Since the broadcast of the "Chinese Characters Dictation Conference" in 2013,cultural variety shows have attracted wide attention. With the popularization of cultural variety shows such as "Chinese Poetry Conference" and "The Reader",cultural variety shows are booming and the number is increasing. The cultural variety shows in 2017 and 2018 are more than 50.The popularity of this kind of program is inextricably linked with the audience. In addition, the continuous development of information technology has enhanced the interaction between TV programs and audiences. The audience is no longer passively accepting information, but actively accepting content. Therefore,in order for a program to survive and develop,it must be able to meet the needs of the audience, which coincides with the theory of accepting aesthetics.Accepting aesthetics emphasizes the important position of readers in the reading process and the reader's subjective initiative in reading activities.Due to the continuous expansion of theory, the acceptance of aesthetics has not only been applied to the field of literature, but also widely used in the fields of literature, translation and communication. The "Chinese Poetry Conference" and "The Reader" are representatives of cultural variety shows, integrating culture and emotions,so that the audience will have emotional resonance in the cultural atmosphere.Studying these two programs from the perspective of accepting aesthetics, using the three theories of "expected vision","implicit readers" and "calling structure" to analyze the reasons for the success of the program,in order to provide reference for the development of other cultural variety shows.
