An Empirical Study On The International Exchanges And Cooperation Of Public Libraries In The Shanghai Area

With the tide of economic globalization sweeping the world and the rapid development of the information technology,China's development has become more and more open.International cultural exchanges have been strengthened and cultural exchanges and cooperation have become more important.Under such a macroscopic background,public libraries,which are the important part of the national cultural undertakings,need to carry out international exchanges and cooperation,meet the growing demand of readers for internationalization,promote the development of library undertakings,and promote the Chinese cultural exchange with foreign countries.As the rapidly developing international metropolis of China,Shanghai has proposed the goal of “building an international cultural metropolis basically in 2020,” and it also needs public libraries to make corresponding efforts.Therefore,research on international exchanges and cooperation in public libraries in Shanghai is to meet the needs of urban cultural development.In addition,Shanghai can play a leading role in piloting the country first,and provide reference for public libraries in other regions of the country.This research uses a variety of research methods such as literature research methods,questionnaires,and interviews.The main contents are as follows.(1)Theoretical alalysis on international exchange and cooperation in public libraries.First of all,it analyzes the concept and development path of international exchange and cooperation in public libraries.Secondly,it introduces the theoretical basis for the development of international exchanges and cooperation in public libraries,provides theoretical support for the latter,and finally analyzes the macro background and significance of international exchange and cooperation in public libraries.(2)Research on the status quo of international exchanges and cooperation between public libraries at home and abroad.From the five aspects of resources,services,activities,librarians,and the other,this paper sorts out the specific paths for international exchanges and cooperation of public libraries at home and abroad,promotes measures,and summarizes experience and problems.(3)An empirical study of international exchange and cooperation in public libraries in Shanghai.First of all,it analyzes the environmental advantages and practical status of international exchanges and cooperation of public libraries in Shanghai,and then analyzes the status quo and attitude of librarians on the basis of questionnaires and in-depth interviews.Then it summarizes the problems in the process of international exchange and cooperation in public libraries in Shanghai.In the end,this paper proposes targeted measures on specific issues in the process of international exchange and cooperation development of public libraries in Shanghai from the four levels of government,society,industry,and library.
