With the rapid development of domestic communications industry,the business of transmission network is changing from dominated by time-division multiplexing to that dominated by IP,and in this background,the packet transmission network PTN gets rapid development.In order to deal with the continuous expansion of the network and to meet customers' constant new demands to the quality of the network,the amount and type of PTN equipment have been increased.So in the environment of mass network elements,how to efficiently manager different types and versions of the network equipment and provide high quality of business service in the network management system has become an urgent problem which the current network equipment manufacturers and operators need to consider and concern about.This paper is based on a southbound interface research and development project in some university-enterprise cooperation network communications company PTN network management system to study.Because the southbound interface belongs to the manufacturer's internal interface and is used to manage their own network element equipment,manufacturers generally adopt the way of internal interface and rarely announced the implementation details,so that the specific southbound interface implementations of each manufacturer are not the same.Combining with the current network management requirements,and aiming at the shortcomings of the original southbound interface processing mechanism,this paper proposes a southbound interface implementation method,and focuses on the interface adapter module and the structural design of the southbound interface itself.In this paper,through increasing the interface adaptation function between the upper application module and southbound interface,and dividing that into different sub function according to the function,the upper module does not need to care about the actual southbound interface and equipment difference,just only need to care about sub function,in order to realize the reuse of the interface and reduce the difficulty of the upper network encoding and the artificial maintenance quantity.Then in terms of the southbound interface structure,through the detailed study of the southbound interface demand and function,this paper proposes the southbound interface to be abstracted into three parts of adaptation layer,network elements management layer and message communication management layer.In the aspect of adaptation layer,this paper put forward the idea of matching corresponding network elements for each adapter,which can solve the equipment difference problem,dynamically load new equipment of network elements,and increase system scalability;in the aspect of network elements management layer,through the introduction of caching and multi-threaded processing mechanism,the paper suggests to assign a processing thread for each network element,which improves the performance of network management system;the message communication management layer aspect chooses the TCP/IP communications protocol,split into data frame format and sending operation to actual network elements by socket,which guarantees the high reliability of data transmission between network administrators and network elements.Finally this paper has carried on encoding implementation on method for southbound interface in the system of PTN network management,and conducts tests and validation on southbound interface in the environment of mass network elements further.According to the experimental results,this method for southbound interface contributes a lot to resolving the problem of management and maintenance of multi type and mass network elements,which help network management system to meet the customer demands rapidly.In addition,the PTN network management system has been successfully published and used in China Mobile,Chunghwa Telecom(CHT)and other major companies.
