An Extended Design And Implementation Of The NETCONF Subtree Filtering Mechanism

With the development of modern computer and information technology,there comes to be massive kinds of network devices on the market.The scale,complexity and otherness of network are increasing.People urgently need an efficient and safe network management toolwith unified management capability.In order to achieve better management of large and complex networks,the Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF)proposed the NETCONF network management protocol based on extensible markup language(XML)in 2006.NETCONF protocol has obvious advantages in the automation of network management.This paper analyzes the function and principle of the subtree filtering which is an important way to get data in NETCONF protocol and presents extended solution that includes max row limiting,regular match,condition match and column match in row methods considering the shortage of basic methods.These methods increase the flexibility of the subtree filtering,thus improve the usability of the NETCONF protocol.The subtree filtering is divided into several phases,and the extended subtree filtering mechanism is implemented on a specific software and hardware platform.At last the function and performance tests are carried out.
