The Research And Improvment Of The Subtree Filtering In NETCONF

As the network enormously evolved, the scale and complexity of networks has increased greatly. The current network management becomes more and more complex, which results in more requirements for the network management. The traditional SNMP has more problems in network configuration, transport efficiency and security, which leads to the birth of NETCONF.NETCONF is a XML-based network management protocol. The message and management data defined in NETCONF are all descripted with XML. NETCONF applies the advantage of XML to network management, which provides powerful functions for the configuration management. So, the NETCONF has been paid many attentions and researched widely. NETCONF represents the development direction of next generation network management. NETCONF defines an important mechanism subtree filtering, which is used to get the information of the management data.This paper mainly analyses the principle and function of the subtree filtering in NETCONF, and points to the shortage of the subtree filtering in function. Based on this, we propose a new filtering method, extended subtree filtering. Extended subtree filtering extends the function of the subtree filtering and improves the flexibility and functionality of the subtree filtering.
