Notification Management Based On NETCONF And SNMP Protocol

As the rapid development of computer networks, it has brought significant challenges to network management. But the configuration, transmission efficiency, security and notifications management of SNMP are still fundamental weaknesses. NETCONF which based on XML has a powerful configuration capabilities, efficient transmission performance, high security and excellent scalability. However, to promote the standardization of it is a hot pot at present time.And It is a long-term process of NETCONF protocol substitute for SNMP protocol. Consequently, the paper starts from the network warming to research the notification data model layer of NETCONF protocol and the NETCONF-SNMP notification Gateway conversion. In the view of this the paper made the following discussion.First, the thesis translates the notification data model of NETCONF protocol and the data model of SNMP Trap. By improving the data type of the Yang language, the author proposes a norms translation model between notification and Trap.Meanwhile, interactive translation model that based on XML also has been proposed and。Then the paper studied the problem of XML document validation,and proposed one based on the DSDL notification XML documents validation frame.Then, the thesis made a meticulous research of the gateway operating conversion between the NETCONF notification and the Trap in two factors. The first was the study of the NETCONF notification and the operational processes with the gateway conversion, which solved the process of the protocol conversion. The second was the study of the SNMP Trap message and the gateway conversion.It solved the problem of the Trap classification and filtering. And proposed a notification management algorithm which combined polling and Trap.Ultimate, the thesis designed a notification management system based the gateway. Then it made a brief analysis of the deployment and performance of the gateway.As the thesis put forward, the notification data model effective attempts in the NETCONF content layer. In the meantime, notice gateway planning provide ideas and new methods to develop the large NETCONF-SNMP gateway.
