Framework Research On Reports Of Chinese Medias About Three Gorges Project Immigrants

The Three Gorges Project is the largest dam ever constructed in China even in the world.The controversies surrounding it has never stopped in China since its preparation and construction.One of the most controversial issues,the issue of the Three Gorges Project's immigrants who leave their hometown to other provinces has always attracted the attention of the media.Based on that,this study takes Chinese reports about the Three Gorges project's immigrants as research object,and explores the media's construction of these reports.The study collected 599 reports from the China' s Newspaper Full-text Database,the People's Daily Database,the Xinhua News Agency Database,and reports that can be searched by Baidu search engines from May 19,1999 to December 31,2017.Through doing the content analysis of these reports,the author explored how these reports are presented in terms of form and content.At the same time,by dividing the research time span,the author observed the changes of reports construction that occur over time.The study also conducted discourse analysis of report cases in each phase.Through analyzing news schemas and news discourse styles of the cases,the author summarized the different news discourse characteristics of reports in different time periods,based on which,then concluded different reporting frameworks used by the media:the Migration Encouraging Framework,the Migration Work Inspection Framework,and the Post-Immigration Issues Inquiring Framework.The Chinese media has been paying close attention to this issue for nearly 20 years.During this process,the media has continuously adjusted the construction strategy of reports in an attempt to find a balance between journalism's political attributes and economic attributes.These reports are in line with the Three Gorges Project's construction process and the media ecology changing process,they had meet the needs of the audiences in every time periods.The media had comprehensively recorded events and phenomena related to this issue as a recorder.To sort out the form and content characteristics of these Chinese reports,and observe how media adjusted the reporting strategy in response to the changes in the internal and external environment have provided a reference for reports about project migration.Reports on related issues can provide news coverage to help the project to meet the resettlement goals of "relocating,stabilizing,and getting rich" faster and better by "combining the theme of reports with the focus of immigration work at all stages","enlarging the reporting genre,organizing more in-depth reports",and "improving the discourse power of immigrants in the early stage of relocation" and so on.
