The evaluation of academic influence often goes hand in hand with the incentive mechanism,so how to promote the evaluation of academic influence to become more objective, fair and scientific has always been one of the important research directions in the field of library and information science. In 2005,Hirsch proposed that to evaluate the academic influence of scholars with the H-index with convenient calculation, scientific process and valid results, which is considered to be a milestone innovation in the field of academic influence evaluation. However,it is difficult to identify scholars, institutions, countries or regions with outstanding academic influence in a short period of time when evaluating using the H index. This paper first sorts out the existing academic achievements in the field of academic evaluation and introduces the concept of time period based on the theory of H index. Then,it proposes the index Hp?T? that can evaluate the periodic academic influence of scholars, institutions, and countries, and the index VHP?T? that evaluate the academic influence of scholars, institutions, and countries during different periods.Besides, empirical researches are conducted on scholars, institutions, countries, and regions respectively. The significance of this paper is to solve the issue that the existing academic evaluation methods can hardly effectively identify short-term academic influence of scholars, institutions, countries or regions, and provide meaningful exploration for academic evaluation research.
