Since the implementation of reform and opening up policy in 1978,the great changes have taken place in Chinese society.The overall domestic economy grows constantly and the information science achieves rapid development,followed by the mounting population in the urban area and further urban industrialization.As for the whole city,most of its original territory,history,culture,citizen and some other features are covered up by the uniform image created by modern media.The arrangement of urban geographic space tends to be the same,and the symbol of culture of city is built into the tool of meaning production,serving the city planning.The urban citizens are difficult to find the connections between modern technology and humanistic feelings.Industrial technology helps people to obtain much more convenient more life style,but regulates people's behavior as well.Therefore it weakens the creativity of urban culture and individual.As the culture carrier of the city,urban picture books spread in various types and methods restructuring urban space,building up the cultural memory of people inside the city.From the perspective of urban space and cultural memory,this paper chooses the urban picture books as the research object,discussing how people and modern information technology realize mutual integration by studying the spread of urban picture books and its work of restructuring urban space.This paper has five chapters in total as follow:This introduction part of the paper is presenting literature of urban picture books,cultural memory,media space and some other relevant concepts,illustrating research topic and background,defining the research objects and scope and building up relevant research frame.This chapter uses the qualitative research method to summarize the spreading characteristics of urban picture books in the era of internet.Chapter1: This chapter mainly illustrates the urban picture books' new endowed connotations of social functions in the modern society,and then analyses the socialand cultural property of urban picture books by discussing its media character,spreading method and value in the era of digital media.Chapter2: This chapter selects freehand postcard or map as the example,laying emphasis on analyzing the media production in the urban space,discussing the relations between semiology and landscape science as well as how urban picture books embody the city space by studying the focused landscape.Chapter3:This chapter mainly analyses the city image and historical culture depicted by urban picture books,interpreting its inner logics and purpose of building by virtue of Jan·Assmann's cultural memory theory in order to discuss the interconnections between citizens and urban picture books served as the carrier of historical culture and memory producing.Chapter4:This chapter mainly illustrates the relations between the call of urban subject and media construct,as well as the guidance and the gathering of citizen's self status orientation and sense of cultural belongings provided by city in the modern society presented in the urban picture books.Besides,this chapter take the urban picture books in Suzhou as the example,analyzing how Suzhou's government in the era of internet build up spiritual homeland aspired by all citizens in the method of urban picture books' spread.
