The study explores the news' frame of the “One Belt One Road(OBOR)” on the German mainstream media.Researcher analyzes all the reports from 2014 to 2017 regarding OBOR on "die Welt" and "Sueddeutsche Zeitung".This paper adopts Gamson's interpretive packages to analyze three dominant news frames: the expansion framework, the rejuvenation framework, and the trade framework.Altogether these frames form the signature matrix of OBOR issue.Furthermore the researcher investigates the evolution of this matrix to reveal more of its detail. Results show that the expansion frame adopts negative metaphors to evoke audiences' unpleasent impression of OBOR.The trade frame uses many direct quotations and interviews thus reveal its frame sponsor. The quantitative study shows that the expansion frame is the dominant frame for the German media coverage of OBOR.The discourse sponsors of the trade frame clearly point to German business people, and the rejuvenation frame is the least prominent framework. In the diachronic analysis,it was found that the preferences of the three frameworks for different content are gradually stable. The expansion frame is the dominant framework for reporting European events, the trade frame is the dominant frame for reporting German events, and the rejuvenation frame is the dominant frame for reporting Asian events.Combining social and cultural factors, facts remains that Germany's multiple national identities are the cultural resonances for all these three frame.Due to this mutual beneficial relationship, the German companies stand as the firm advocator of the trade function of OBOR.Considering the right-wing trend in Germany these years, researcher predicts that the expansion frame will further benefit from this ideological trend and bring negative effects to the cooperation between China and Germany on OBOR platform.
