Samuel T.Y.Seng is one of the greatest library scholars,outstanding library education educators,and founders of the modern library industry and library science in China in the 20th century.He has devoted his life energy and painstaking efforts to the cause of the Chinese library and has achieved outstanding results.His academic ideas and achievements are a valuable resource for library science.He is the first to go abroad to study the library science in the United States.He traveled around and was the first to establish the modern library industry in China.He also founded and developed the first library school in the history of China.Samuel is a milestone in the field of modern Chinese library science.Today,the work he left still has a profound influence on the development of today's library science.Study the development of Chinese modern library science education cannot separate from studying the outstanding figures that promote the development of modern library science.Samuel is honored as the "Father of Chinese Library Science Education" and is the key to promote modern library science education.Samuel is a pioneer in the field of modern library science in China.His contribution to the Chinese library industry is unapprocable in the 20th century Chinese library community.He has made outstanding achievements in almost all specialized fields of library work and research.He is one of the most outstanding scholars in the history of library science in the 20th century in China.More than 70 years ago,the problems that he paid attention to are still hot topics in academic circles today.To realize the orderly development of network information resources,it is of practical significance to analyze and research the professional education ideas of library science.This paper adopts literature survey and historical analysis methods,through a large number of Samuel's original works and lectures,and other scholars' literature,to reproduces Samuel's ideas and practice of library science education objectively.The article also combines the histocical background,social development,and personal experience to analyze the uniqueness of Samuel's ideas of library science education and background of his thoughts,which has an deep and systematic study to its key ideas and contributions in the field of library science education.This article first examines Samuel's life experience,to understand its growth environment and learning experience.Then,based on the context of time,sort out Samuel's practical activities in the field of library science education.The idea comes from practice.After summarizing his personal experiences and library science education practice activities,he focuses on his library education ideas.Through this part of the research,he can fully grasp the overall picture of the library education thought of Samuel.Based on the above research,this paper summarizes the far-reaching significance of Samuel's idea of library science education.The author explores the educational thoughts of Shen Zhurong,a library scientist who has a far-reaching impact on the modern library industry at the moment of the 100th anniversary of the professional education of library science.The author traces the origins and studies the historical background of library education during this period.The reason is to pave the way for the further exploration of the nature and purpose of library education and the promotion of the development of library science education.At the same time,we study and summarize Samuel's thoughts and practices in order to absorb its essence,inherit its rigorous and realistic tradition,learn its spirit of innovation and dedication,and promote the rapid development of Chinese library education and the innovation of library science research.The academic literacy and work ability of the library industry practitioners create the glory of Chinese library education in the 21st century.
