| The study of national image began in the "World war I",and since then,it have been several stages of development in China.Although the research on national image has just been on the right track,the research on the image of China by the news media in specific countries is still an important issue.As two neighboring developing countries,India has always followed China's every move and viewed China as a competitor.In recent years,because of the influence of western media coverage,the "China Threat Theory" has been frequently moved to the stage.This article selects the TimesofIndian.com,which can represent the views of the government in India and have unique visitors and the highest click-through rate,as the research object.The paper have collected on January 14,2017 to January 14,2018,a year of news reports.To analyze the Chinese in TimesofIndia.com reported in the projected image of the country I do the quantitative and qualitative research.On quantitative research,to analyze the reporting rules of TimesofIndia.com,this paper used content analysis to conduct and organize the Number of reports,length of coverage,place of publication,news source and news type of the sample;On qualitative research,by judging the attitude determination of all reports,analyzing the relationship between different news sources and different reporting types with reporting attitudes,this paper used text analysis to analyze the Chinese political image,economic image,military image,social image and the image of science and technology in the report of TimesofIndia.com.On the basis of above analysis,this paper selected “The 19 th congress of the communist party of China” and “Doklam Confrontation” between China and India border event as case analysis to get the tendency of different media reports,with conducting a comparative study of reports between different national media.The study found that the attitude of TimesofInida.com was far more negative than positive.It certainly agree the ability of the Chinese government and the development of science and technology.Under the background of China's rapideconomic development,It identified China's strong growth momentum as "expansion" and identified China as "ambitious" country,which brings the enormous pressure for India.On the analysis of specific cases,TimesofInida.com showed "anti-china" tendency,TheHindu.com is relatively rational and objective.The western media,represented by the United States and Britain,reported from different perspectives,and generally showed a more negative reporting tendency.TimesofInida.com has its specific reporting characteristics,and finally,the paper analyzes the thrust factor behind the characteristics of TimesofInida.com from the aspects of politics,economy,history and culture. |
