In international communication,the world influence of Sino-US relations is relatively extensive and far-reaching.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States in 1979,Sino-US bilateral relations have generally continued to move forward,and the cooperation between the two sides has also been relatively close.However,as China's strength continues to increase,the United States believes that China has violated their interests and regards China as their greatest potential threat.Especially since Trump took office,the US policy toward China has intensified,and it has successively formulated a series of trade protection policies,such as tariff barriers,technical barriers,intellectual property protection,etc.,in the "Fair Trade" and "America First." The policy-oriented support has had a strong impact and influence on the global free trade system.From the Trump administration instigated the Sino-US trade war in 2018,the Biden administration has still not seen any signs of easing.The incident has not only attracted widespread attention in China,but has also become a hot topic in the international media.Therefore,this article selects 99 reports on the Sino-US trade war in the New York Times from 2018 to 2019 to conduct a more in-depth combing and analysis of the reports on the Sino-US trade war by the mainstream media of China and the United States.The image of China in the China-US trade war report by The Times.The research adopted the content analysis method,and carried out specific analysis of these samples from several dimensions such as the number of reports,topic distribution,tendency and news source;on the basis of the content analysis method,the framework analysis method was adopted to analyze the "New York Times" A qualitative analysis of China's image in US trade war reports summarizes the "New York Times" news reporting framework and China's image combined research and analysis to arrive at the conflict framework,economic consequences framework,responsibility attribution framework,and cooperation framework.The reasons for the formation of these four frameworks are analyzed from the four levels of politics,economy,society,and culture,and it is concluded that the image of China constructed by The New York Times is the image of a competitor,a partner,and an interest-seeker.Finally,combined with the relevant China-related reports,a comprehensive analysis of the negative impact on China in various aspects was carried out,and the current effective feasible plans for various external communication were proposed to provide support and assistance for China's external publicity.
