The academic research on national image has been focused on political image,diplomatic image and media image,while the research on national economic image is relatively rareThe study of national image has long involved social sciences,such as communication,sociology,diplomacy and popular psychology,but it has little connection with economicsThis paper attempts to study the economic activities of the country.Most domestic scholars choose the mainstream media in Europe and the United States,such as the New York Times,the Wall Street Journal,the Financial Times,the Economist and other well-known newspapers and magazines to study China's national image.However,with the rise of the third world countries since the 21st century,the focus of China's diplomacy has changedChina has begun to focus its diplomacy on its neighbors.But China has done relatively little research on media coverage of China from third world countries other than Europe and the United States.In this context,this paper chooses Indian media,one of the developing countries and the growing bilateral relations with China as a sample and try to explain how national Internet public opinion shapes China's national economic image,and hopes that this will enrich the research results in the field of national image.In order to interpret the image of China's economy in the online edition of the Economic Times of India,this paper combines quantitative and qualitative content analysis,collects the news reports of the Economic Times of India and studies the data quantitatively.This paper mainly makes a quantitative analysis of the sample from the aspects of the number of reports,the length of reports,the topics of reports and the source analysis,and then makes a qualitative analysis according to the text,and then interprets the China's economic image by the Indian Economic Times,and interprets the reports of the Economic Times on China's economy in a more detailed way,trying to answer the research hypothesis put forward.The research object of this paper is all the articles on the website of the Economic Times of India covering China's economy from July 1,2018 to December 30,2018.That is to say,all the reports on China's economy on the official website of the Economic Times of India during this period are taken as the research object of this paper.Based on the analysis of the contents of the report,the Economic Times portrays the image of China's fast-growing but threatening economy.The image of China's economy is mostly neutral,but both positive and negative images coexist.
