Risk Identification And Coping Strategies On Long-term Preservation Of Digital Archives

Since digital archives occupy a lot of storage space,and are difficult to store and manage,it is so urgent and necessary to carry out research on long-term preservation of digital archives.On the other hand,the maturation and improvement of risk management theory,as well as the introduction and study of risk management theory in archives,provide references for the research on long-term preservation of digital archives from the perspective of risk management in this paper.Through literature research,this paper analyzes theoretical basis,research contents and research methods related to the study.The paper focuses on risk identification and factor analysis of long-term preservation,as well as risk coping strategies.In the risk identification section,adopting the target deviation method,this paper identify the main risks of long-term preservation by pre-setting the target of long-term preservation and analyzing the deviation form actual results to the expected goal.The main risks include authentic risks,integrity risk,reliability risk,usability risk,confidentiality risk and accuracy risk.At the same time,this paper builds an integrated framework,which is used to analyze the risk factors form three aspects——external environment,management and technology in the different level of records lifecycle.In the part of coping strategies,we construct a risk coping system from four aspects——coping domain,coping strategy,coping level and coping methods.Then the paper elaborates how to deal with the risks by different strategies through different methods——personnel,laws and regulations,standards,management of organization,system,technology and funds on macroscopic level,middle and micro level.Finally,a case study on the risk factors and the risk countermeasures of long-term preservation is conducted,according to the integrated framework and methods as well as the risk coping system proposed in the paper.
