With the development of high-performance computing technology,the efficiency of networkplays a more and more important role for the overall performance of the system.The RapidIO isa high-performance packet-switched, interconnect technology,which has the advantages of lowlatency, high bandwidth and high reliability.The RapidIO technology provides a good solutionfor high-performance computing systems interconnect.In addition, the high-performancecomputing system often use10GE Ethernet to communicate with data acquisition system.Forefficient and convenient communication of the Real time data between the internal RapidIOnetwork and external10Gigabit Ethernet,Systems need to provide a gateway which can convertRapidIO packet and TCP/IP packet.This thesis researchs and tests the data exchange between the10GE Ethernet and theRapidIO network,based on studies of RapidIO and Ethernet TCP/IP protocol theory.This thesisdesigns and implements the10GE-RapidIO Gateway based on the VxWorks system using theEthernet-over-RapidIO method which encapsulate the Ethernet packets into the RapidIOpackets,according to the pipeline gateway design ideas.The major work of this thesis is as follows:1) This thesis analyzes and studies of the RapidIO technology, TCP/IP protocol and thetheoretical knowledge of VxWorks embedded operating system.what’s more,this thesis analyzesthe technical feasibility and their advantages and disadvantages of Ethernet-Over-RapidIO,andput forward a viable10GE-RapidIO protocol conversion gateway solution.2) Based on the hardware platform,this thesis make full use of resources to design andimplement the software systems of the10GE-RapidIO protocol conversion gateway,and designsthe RapidIO Ethernet simulator according to the Ethernet-Over-RapidIO pipeline technical.Thismethod ignores the underlying complexity of the strong real-time RapidIO technical details andfocus on the upper application development,accomplishs the transform between RapidIO packetsand10Gigabit ethernet packets.Its biggest advantage is that can greatly reduce the difficulty andrisk of the user’s application development.what’s more,the transplantation of the old C programand the MPI program will be very easy.3) This thesis establishs the experimental platform,and makes a test experiment.The results show that: The10GE-RapidIO gateway basically meet the demands of thegateway design on the connectivity、reliability and performance..The gateway can accomplishsthe transform effectively between RapidIO packets and10Gigabit ethernet packets,and achievesa seamless integration of the10Gigabit Ethernet and RapidIO network.
