The Improvement And Application Of P-index Under The Context Of Time

Since Eugene Garfield created the Science Citation Index(SCI),evaluating scientific research output by using reference relationships has been a mainstream quantitative evaluation method,following a variety of bibliometric indicator.However,we see few evaluating studies by using reference relationships from the time dimension.The effects of time factor on scientific evaluation is various,because time can not only affect the reference quantities but also the use of literature.Hence,this paper will specially study the construction and application of comprehensive scientific evaluating index based on the time factor.Starting from the two perspectives:cumulative citations of literature increasing with the issue date and literature with greater influences and values aging more slowly.This study propose that the time has a dilution effection and agglomeration effection on the literature influence,we try to improve comprehensive scientific evaluating index P based on the time factor,integrating the factors of subject half-life,issuing and referenced time of literature.In this paper,we will do empirical studies on improving index Pt with the objects of some scientific researchers from the three disciplines:library information and philology,philosophy and statistics after finishing the improving index.We will first do iterative regressive analysis on the two subjects by using B-K aging mode based on the cited data in 1998-2013 downloaded from CSSCI,and estimate the relational curve between fitting citation quantities and ages.Then,collect the papers and cited data of researchers in 1998-2013 and calculate the weighted citation quantities based on time according to the improving index and P-index and Pt-index.At last,do comparative analysis on index h,P,and Pt of scientific researchers.The results of this paper show that index Pt is related to the measuring indexes of index h,index P,citation quantities,citation rates,but not highly related to the issuing quantities.Pt-index has higher discrimination and sensitivity than h-index,and it can better identify the potential new literatures and highlight the influence of classic literature from all subjects,thus,recognizing the elitists who lay the foundation of subjects and leading academic development.
