Left behind Children came with the process of urbanization in our country.Although the community had already paid close attention to left-behind children for the past few years,the focus on left behind preschool children and their social competence with peers is being more or less neglected.Children's peer relationship is a main content of social development,and it is very important for children to form their personality,emotional state and interpersonal relationship.In this research we selected ten kindergartens in six different regions,whose economic development were slow in recent years.The researcher uses interviews,questionnaire,observations,etc.to further study on social competence with peers of rural 5 to 6-year-old left behind children.This research finds out that social competence with peers of rural 5 to 6-year-old left behind children develop slowly.It has a significant difference with non-left behind children,and it is significantly lower than non-left behind children.Social competence with peers of left behind children is remarkable different with non-left behind children on four dimensions(language expression ability,initiative in peer interaction,social skills and problematic behaviors in peer interaction),and the left behind children lags far behind the non-left behind children.According to analysis of data,observations on children and interviews with teachers and some children's parents,this research finds out the following problems of social competence with peers of rural 5 to 6-year-old left behind children: slowly developed language expression ability,inactive initiative in peer interaction,lack of social skills and serious problematic behaviors in peer interaction.The researcher explores the influence factors on social competence with peers of rural left behind children,and finds out the following factors: family environment is the basic reason,including lack of their parents' accompaniment,lack of mother's upbringing,outdated educational ideas of their minders.And also the kindergartens and the community are lack of attention on rural left behind children.To promote the social competence with peers of rural left behind children,the researcher makes the following suggestions.Family: Cultivate their social competence with peers by strengthening their parents' awareness of accompaniment,creating a fine family environment of interaction;Kindergartens: Pay close attention on the left behind children.Improve their social competence with peers by setting up courses,organizing activities and reaching out to the children's families.The government and the community: Offer some compensatory education for the rural left behind children.Make full use of the strength of government at all levels,mess media,commonweal organizations,etc.Lay a solid foundation for rural left behind children to being a part of the society in the future.
