With the development of times, the social work in poor areas, especially the social work for children in poor areas, is increasingly attracting people’s attention. With the rapid development of national economy, amount of migrant workers pour into cities, resulting in a lot of left-behind families and children which bring out a lot of social problems. These problems attract widely concerns both at home and abroad. The social work began relatively earlier in foreign countries and hence performed to be more completed. Their experience is quite worthy of being introduced to domestic children’s social work. For present domestic social work, especially for the social work for children in poor areas, it still has many serious problems which are calling upon the attention of the whole society.Based on the group activities and field trips of "Descendants of the Dragon" Public Organization in some countryside areas, this paper is quite an innovation with practical meanings. This paper firstly illustrates the problems faced by children in central and western regions of China, those problems includes:the present educational situation of the left behind children in Midwest; and the problems faced in their education. Then, the causes of those problems will be analyzed. Combined with practical examples, this paper will also summarize the weakness of social work and finally, the strategies will be proposed to solve the problems. This paper will:(1) Link up theory with practice:analyzing the problems in children development through combining the solid theoretical foundation and practical examples.(2) Identify, assess and discuss the research subjects in advance to make research more effective and feasible.(3) Assess and discuss the research subjects to make the research more meaningful.(4) Probe into the problems in children development with samples, especially for children in poor areas. The difficulties encountering in the actual course of the study are as follows:(1) Some schools, parents, as well as relatives of left behind children are not coordinated, and even show strong resentment;(2) In the field trip, many schools and villagers show conflicted moods in taking pictures or doing questionnaires;(3) There are also difficulties for many villagers to fill out the questionnaire due to their poor educational level;(4) There is still a lack of personal knowledge. However, in the front of these problems, this paper will try the foremost effort to complete this research.(1) Instead of proposing questions directly, I will try to be familiar with the villagers and children to reduce the resistance. Hence, it is easier for them to accept my research.(2) For taking pictures, if the explanations are still hard to be accepted by the villagers, a hidden camera will be used to do the record. Of course, the best way is to make friends with them.(3) Help the illiterate villagers fill out the questionnaire;(4) In light of relevant references and theories, I will do more communication with the scholars and classmates, trying hard to finish this research. This is also a process to learn and develop myself.
