At present, cancer has been regarded as a malignant disease that seriously threatens human life and health.People tend to be frightened when talking about cancer.Usually people do not like such death-related topics, because they are afraid to face death and accept the fact of death. With the progress and development of the society, people’s pursuit of high quality life is also constantly improving. However, death is actually an important part of human life that cannot be avoided, people began to have a sense of end-of-life services and gradually pay attention to the topics concerning death and the end of life. Thus people began to think about the problem of the life quality at the end of life, and hospice care began to enter people’s vision.Such questions as how to reduce or even eliminate people’s fear of cancer and death, how to help people correctly understand and accept death, how to help cancer patients to reconstruct the meaning of life and how to help them complete the final journey of life with dignity will be resolved by hospice care services.Hospice care is a kind of social service that people desperately need at the end of life.It can play a crucial role in the last stage of people’s life. Therefore,as an emerging field of social work intervention, the hospice care service for the serious cancer patients is gradually gaining extensive attention from all walks of life.Taking the cancer patients in M Hospice Hospital of Nanchang City as the objects, who are receiving the intervention service of home care, this paper adopts the qualitative research method to carry out practical exploration and research.Through face-to-face interviews with the patients during the contacts, the social workers should stick to the professional spirit of “help people to help themselves”,explore the patients’ own potential, meet the patients’ own needs, and through the joint efforts of the social workers and the patients to handle and resolve all kinds of existing problems. After two months of involvement in the caring for the serious cancer patients, the author of this paper collected first-hand practical data for the academic research and analysis.During the intervention process, the author paid full respect to the ideas of the patients, always kept a patient-oriented empathy, focused on the existing physical and psychological problems, helped the patients to solve the problems with integrated social resources, employed different measures to adjust their emotions, and guided the patients to deal with negative emotions. In the service process, the social workers must explore the patients’ own advantages, help them fully explore their own advantages and use their own advantages to solve their difficulties. At the same time, they must also help the patients and their family members to establish confidence in overcoming the difficulties. In the end, they should help the patients to establish the correct concept of treating the disease, enhance the patients’ psychological ability to face the treatment of disease positively, and improve the quality and significance of the patients’ end life.Through the intervention service for the terminal cancer patients,it is not difficult to find the patients’ own changes. The patients begin to change their own negative and depressed emotions, start to look at death in a correct way,and create the meaning of their own life. Thus it can be seen that the hospice care service has a positive effect on the patients. After the practice of intervention service in individual cases, the author has some deep feelings.By reflecting the whole process of intervention and shortcomings in the process, the author proposes some corresponding measures for the improvement of the service. In addition, combining the theory with practice, the author provides the experience as references for other social workers, with the hope to make up for the current deficiencies in the intervention services,so as to provide more exhaustive, timely and richer comprehensive services for the cancer patients.
