In recent years,in the context of the We-media era,short videos have become more and more popular with the public due to their interesting,intuitive and interactive features.Tiktok,as a short video application created by China,is popular among users at home and abroad.In the field of Chinese as a Foreign Language(CFL),short videos have been used as new teaching resources or teaching tools,can better assist teachers in conducting offline and online teaching.At present,short videos for CFL are mostly from the videos of traditional textbooks,film and television works or cultural introduction videos.Therefore,it is a new attempt to integrate the recreational short video platforms into CFL classroom.This thesis conducts a study based on teaching practice in my internship in South Africa,aiming to study the strengths and weaknesses of Tiktok in CFL classroom.Firstly,the introduction summarizes the current situation of Chinese teaching in South Africa,and analyzes the research status of related topics at home and abroad.At the same time,the theoretical basis and realistic condition of the Tiktok applying to CFL are also be introduced.Secondly,it gives examples of how to select appropriate teaching materials from Tiktok and sums up principles of selecting videos.Besides,based on these principles,three categories of videos including vocabulary,grammar and themes in the HSKSTANDARD COURSE are be chosen to integrate a case base for reference.Moreover,it elaborates how to use teaching materials for the teaching design of elementary and intermediate Chinese comprehensive courses.In addition,the thesis carries out inquisitions of the teaching effect through questionnaires and interviews.And the classroom exercises between before and after courses are also be compared.The results showed that Tiktok played a certain role in enhancing learners’ interest and improving their comprehensive ability to speak Chinese.Finally,combined with the actuality of the teaching method and the specific situation of teaching practice,it makes a reflection and summary.And the enlightenment,suggestions and its limitations for Teaching Chinese as a foreign language are also be raised.
