With the development of globalization, international exchanges expand and deepen continuously, and exchanges in the field of medicine are gradually growing. On the one hand, international medical academic exchanges are increasing. On the other hand, foreign technology and equipment and advanced achievements of medicine are constantly introduced into China. In this process, medical translation plays a bridge role in the exchange of medical knowledge among countries. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to explore the translation of medical texts. The translation material of this report is Chronic GLP Report-Pacel Flow Directed Pacing Catheter Adhesive Change, which is a test report about the adhesive change of medical supplies. The source text is highly specialized, and contains many technical terms and abbreviations of medicine, which is a medical text. The purpose of medical text translation is to accurately convey the information of the source text and reproduce the original language, which is consistent with the Functional Equivalence Theory which underlines readers' responses. Thus,Eugene Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory serves as a guiding theory for this translation practice.Functional Equivalence highlights reproducing the style and information of the source text in the most appropriate, natural and equivalent language,so that the readers of the translated text can get the same reading experience as the readers of the source text.In the process of translation, with the help of Functional Equivalence Theory, the author summarizes and categories the difficulties encountered in the translation from lexical and syntactic aspects, and puts forward corresponding solutions. In terms of vocabulary, there are a lot of professional terms and abbreviations in the source text. For these difficulties, the author has read a large number of parallel texts, analyzed the characteristics of terms and abbreviations, and adopted the methods of semantic selection and semantic translation to achieve lexical equivalence. In terms of syntax, the difficulty is how to translate long sentences and passive sentences. After analysis, the translation of long sentences can be solved by the translation method of restructuring and division;the English passive sentence can be transformed to the Chinese sentences without subject.Besides, syntactic linearity also can be utilized to solve the translation of passive sentence so that the translation complies to the expression of the target language. This translation report concludes the corresponding methods and puts forward some suggestions, hoping to provide some reference for the translators who engage in medical translation.
