A Report On The C-E Translation Of XX Fund Management Company’s Research Reports From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

This thesis is a translation practice report based on the output of an internship the author did during her postgraduate studies.The main task of the internship was to translate research reports written by the fund management company,mostly from Chinese to English.The text is characterized by the extensive use of figures and specialized terminology,and the translation is required to be precise,faithful to the original text,fluent in expression and understandable to foreign institutional investors.This report focuses on the analysis and description of the translation task,using Nida’s theory of functional equivalence to provide a case study to guide the translation task,mainly at the lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and to address the difficulties often encountered in translation.The methods used include addition and omission,conversion of part of speech,etc.,and specific translation cases are gi ven.The translation report is divided into five chapters,including an introduction to the thesis,a description of the theoretical framework,translation procedure,case studies and conclusions,all of which are based on the author’s own experiences in translation practice.In this translation report,the author summarizes the problems encountered in the translation task,proposes reasonable solutions,and also draws corresponding conclusions containing translation strategies and reflections on the language level of the translator,in the hope of guiding future translation practice work.
