| With the rapid development of the modern pharmaceutical industry,exchanges on drug research and development at home and abroad have become increasingly frequent.The translation of the clinical report has become an important way for professionals in medical industry to know the results of the latest international clinical drug trials.There are,however,few professionals devoting themselves to medical translation in China,and few studies which is related to the translation of clinical report.Therefore,this practice report is of great significance to the C-E translation of domestic clinical study report.This practice report is based on the author’s translation practice of the clinical study report for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.It analyzes three types of difficulties and problems encountered in the translation process: 1)translation of lexical information such as inaccuracy of normal words,failure to use the accepted terms and lexical redundancy;2)translation of syntactic information such as that of a missing subject or long sentences;3)translation of textual information such as the lack of lexical or grammatical cohesion.Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory focuses on reader’s response.In the translation process,the most similar language should be used to reproduce the source language information,so that the receptors can obtain the target language information that matches the original text most.The translator should focus on four aspects during the process of translating,namely lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,textual equivalence,and stylistic equivalence.On the basis of the functional equivalence theory,the author proposes corresponding solutions to the problems at the three levels: 1)problems at the lexical level can be solved by extension,adaptation of medical terminology and omission;2)problems at the syntactic level can be solved by shift of voice and division;and 3)problems at the textual level can be solved by repetition and addition.It is expected that the preliminary research of this practice report can provide inspiration and reference for the C-E translation practice of the clinical drug report. |
