Overseas Chinese In Southeast Asia And Their Homevillages In Southen Hokkien After 1945

Southen Hokkien is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese and keeps close contact with Overseas Chinese community.As a local newspaper in the original town of Southen Hokkien,Jiangsheng Daily was distributed in Southen Hokkien,Southeast Asia and Taiwan,with a large number of readers in the gathering areas of Southen Hokkien people.However,during world War ?(1939-1945),the connection between overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia and their Homevillages in Southen Hokkien was interrupted.Jiangsheng Daily was also suspended due to the influence of the war.After the victory of the war,Jiangsheng Daily resumed publication,which contained a large number of news,comments,advertisements and other contents related to Southeast Asia.This paper attempts to take this part of the report as the entry point,review the reports about Southeast Asia in the Jiangsheng Daily in 1945-1946,investigate their main contents,combine with archival materials,literature and history materials,overseas Chinese records,overseas Chinese letters and other materials,discusses the re-establishment of the relationship between overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia and their homevillages in Southen Hokkien After 1945,reflect on the significance of newspapers circulating between Southen Hokkien and Southeast Asia and reveal the local construction of Southen Hokkien by Jiangsheng Daily.This study shows that the traffic,personnel flow and overseas remittance between the homevillages of overseas Chinese in Southen Hokkien and Southeast Asia,which were interrupted by the war,began to recover after 1945 through the reissue of Jiangsheng Daily.After the war,the overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia also began to relief the original township.In 1946,the wave of Chinese exclusion began to rise in various countries in Southeast Asia,which was also paid close attention by Jiangsheng Daily after its resumption,reflecting the restoration of the information transmission between Southeast Asia and Southen Hokkien,as well as the concern of the government and the homevillages of overseas Chinese in Southen Hokkien after the war.Jiangsheng Daily showed the dynamic process of the restoration of the relations between overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia and their homevillages in Southen Hokkien After 1945.As a newspaper circulating in Southen Hokkien and Southeast Asia,Jiangsheng Daily played an important role in information transmission,cultural exchange and emotional sharing.It not only played the role of a channel between overseas Chinese and their hometown,but also constructed the locality of Southen Hokkien.
