ObjectivesObserve the clinical effect of fire needle in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation complicated sciatica,and evaluate the advantages of fire needle in the treatment of this disease clinically.MethodsCollected from January 2019 to January 2020,outpatients and wards of the Department of Cerebral Acupuncture and Moxibustion of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of TCM were diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation complicated with sciatica.A total of 70 patients met the inclusion criteria.Patients were randomly divided into two groups,namely the fire needle acupuncture group and the ordinary milli-needle group.Ordinary millet needle group selected waist Jiaji points(L2-S2),Huantiao,Chengfu,Yinmen,Zhibian,Weizhong,Chengshan.Acupuncture the acupoints,and then peck on after cecive qi.The sense of acupuncture is transmitted along the foot meridian and foot shaoyang meridian.The fire needle acupuncture group is based on the ordinary needle acupuncture,plus the acupuncture point acupuncture without needle retention method.Each group was treated once every other day,3 times as a course of treatment,and 2 consecutive courses of treatment.Data analysis was carried out after the end of 2 courses of treatment,comparing the visual analogue scale(VAS)of pain before treatmen and 6 times of treatment,and M-JOA low back pain score to evaluate the improvement of clinical symptoms of sciatica in the two groups of patients happening.Results1 In this study,67 cases were finally completed,33 cases in the fire needle acupuncture group and 34 cases in the ordinary acupuncture group.The two groups of patients were compared before treatment.There was no statistically significant difference in gender,age,pathogenic site and course of disease between the two groups of patients(P > 0.05).2 The VAS scores of the two groups of patients before and after treatment: the clinical VAS baseline data of the two groups of patients were compared before treatment.The results showed that the VAS scores of the two groups of patients were comparable before treatment(P > 0.05).Comparing the VAS scores after 3 treatments between groups,the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).The results showed that the two groups were equally effective in improving pain symptoms of sciatica.After 6 treatments,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The results showed that the fire needle acupuncture group was superior to the ordinary needle group in improving pain in patients with sciatica.3 Modified M-JOA low back pain scores before and after treatment in two groups of patients: Comparison between before and after treatment in the group shows that both therapies are effective in relieving pain and clinical symptoms(P < 0.05).Compared with before and after treatment between groups,the fire acupuncture group can significantly improve patients' waist and leg pain,numbness,paravertebral tenderness and other symptoms.And effectively improve its clinical symptoms,the effect is remarkable,indicating that fire acupuncture therapy is superior to milli-acupuncture therapy in analgesia and improvement of paresthesia.4 Evaluation of the overall efficacy: 8 cases were cured in the fire acupuncture group,17 cases were markedly effective,5 cases were effective,3 cases were ineffective,and the total marked efficiency was 90.91%;The total apparent efficiency is 85.29%.ConclusionsFire acupuncture is effective in treating lumbar disc herniation complicated with sciatica,can improve the patient's lumbar leg pain,numbness,improve their daily living ability.
