ObjectiveBy observing the efficacy of treating lumbar disc herniation (LDH) at multiply angels mainly by fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points therapy, evaluate the curative effect objectively and provide the trustworthy evidence for the optimization plan of fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points plus regular electroacupuncture therapy.MethodFrom May 2014 to February 2015,64 patients of lumbar disc herniation with the inclusive criteria were selected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM. Patients were randomly assigned into test group and control group, in the proportion of 1:1,32 cases in each group. Test group received fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points plus regular electroacupuncture therapy, while control group only received regular electroacupuncture therapy, applying the same acupoints and operation. ①Rutine acupoints selection for electroacupuncture:Shenshu, Dachangshu, Guanyuanshu, Huantiao, Weizhong, Chengshan and Xuanzhong. Except Shenshu, Dachangshu, Guanyuanshu selected on both sides, acupoints above were selected on the affected side. ② Fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points:acupoints were selected by CT-scan which could identified the abnormal intervertebral disc. Both therapies were applied three times a week. One week was set as one therapeutic course and two courses of continuous therapies were recommended for both groups. Patients were evaluated before and after 1st and 2nd courses of treatment by the score of JOA, the score of SF-MPQ, as well as the score of Oswestry. The measurement data was transacted with SPSS16.0 software.Results1. There were no statistically significant discrepancy in the general information of the patients, such as the gender, age, course of disease and disease location (P>0-05), revealing the comparability of the two groups. Besides, no statistically significant differences still showed in the pre-therapy evaluation parameters of the patients, including the score of JOA, the score of SF-MPQ, as well as the score of Oswestry (P>0.05), which displayed the two groups were comparable.2.The comparison of the overall effectiveness:the total effective rate was 93.75% in test group and 84.38% in control group, with no statistically significant differences (P>0.05).3. Comparison of JOA score:After the first and second treatments, compare the comparisons of the two groups, the scores of JOA were both increased in two groups, and there were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.01).4. Comparison of the SF-MPQ score:After the first and second treatments, compare the comparisons of the two groups, the scores of SF-MPQ were both declined in two groups, and there were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.01).5. Comparison of Oswestry score:After the first and second treatments, compare the comparisons of the two groups, the scores of Oswestry were both declined in two groups, and there were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.01).Conclusions1.The fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points plus regular electroacupuncture therapy and the only electroacupuncture therapy both have effectiveness. They both can improve pain, overall symptoms, sign, regular daily-life activities and limb function.2. In short term and after fulfilling two courses of treatments, the fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points plus regular electroacupuncture therapy has better effectiveness than the only electroacupuncture therapy in the relief of pain, overall symptoms, sign, regular daily-life activities and limb function.3.The overall effect of the fire-needling lumbar Jiaji-points plus regular electroacupuncture therapy is better than the only electroacupuncture therapy.
