Objectives1.To investigate the current status of burnout,time management and job stress among female nurses in Guangzhou.2.To analyze the relationships and the pathway between burnout,time management and job stress.Methods1.A cross-sectional design was used.The data were collected with a general information questionnaire,Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey,Time Management Questionnaire and Job Stress Scale.2.Convenience sampling was used to investigate 1019 registered female nurses in Guangzhou during March to May 2017.3.Data were analyzed by SPSS24.0 and AMOS 22.0.Statistical methods include descriptive analysis,Mann-Whitney U Rank Test,Kruskal-Wallis H Rank Test,Spearman correlation analysis,regression and path analysis.Results1.The scores of each dimension of nurses' burnout were: emotional exhaustion(25.41±11.27),depersonalization(7.92±6.71),personal accomplishment(29.71±10.07).The total score of nurses' time management was(56.26±9.27),the scores of each dimension were: goal setting(14.29±3.97),mechanics of time management(16.65±3.38),perceived control of time(14.35±3.34)and reference for organization(10.79±1.94).The total score of nurses' job stress was(29.29±8.52),the scores of each dimension were: time stress(19.92±6.69),anxiety(9.37±2.60).2.The score differences of nurses' burnout on different marital status,ages,work years,job titles,departments and salaries were statistically significant(P<0.05).The score differences of nurses' burnout on different birthplaces,grade of institutions and educations were statistically insignificant(P>0.05).3.The score of burnout was negatively related to the score of time management(P<0.05).The score of burnout was negatively related to the score of job stress(P<0.05).The score of time management was positively related to the score of job stress(P<0.05).4.The model goodness of fit was well.Time management had direct effect on burnout and the standardized value was-0.60.Job stress had direct effect on burnout and the standardized value was-0.24.Job stress played a mediating role between time management and burnout and the standardized value was-0.14.Conclusions1.The relevance ratio of burnout of female nurses in Guangzhou was 70%.Nurses' burnout was in a medium-high level,emotional exhaustion and depersonalization were in a medium level,personal accomplishment was in a high level.Nurses' time management and job stress were in a medium level.2.Nurses with different marital status,ages,work years,job titles,departments and salaries showed different scores of burnout.Those who were not married,age less than 25 years old,and 31~35 years old,working years in 11~15 years,low professional titles and low salary showed highest score in burnout.Comparing with other departments,nurses in department of paediatrics showed the highest score in burnout.3.The better time management was,the lower level of burnout was.The better time management was,the lower level of job stress was.The lower level of job stress was,the lower level of burnout was.4.Job stress played a mediating role between time management and burnout.Time management could affect burnout by job stress.Nurses who had good time management and were in a lower job stress had a lower level of burnout.5.Nursing managers should recognize the negative influences of burnout and take appropriate measures to reduce the incidence of it.According to the effect of time management and job stress on burnout,the managers may improve nurses' working efficiency by training their ability of time management,reducing the degree of job stress,improving job satisfaction and personal accomplishment to reduce the occurrence of burnout.
