Objective The main risk factors of Knee osteoarthritis(KOA)in Mongolian people can be known, the distribution of medical syndromes can be understood, and the correlation between risk factors and traditional Chinese medicine syndromes can be further explored. At the same time,a health management plan suitable for Mongolian KOA patients was developed for Mongolian knee osteoarthritis people who usually live in agricultural and pastoral areas. Methods This research chose Case-control studies. The Mongolian Patients with knee osteoarthritis, living in the agricultural and pastoral areas, who were treated in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of Inner Mongolia Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital,Inner Mongolia International Mongolian Hospital,Acupuncture and Orthopedics Department from February 2019 to December 2019 were selected as case groups. The Mongolian population who is living in the agricultural and pastoral areas without knee osteoarthritis is served as a control group.Face-to-face surveys were performed on both the case group and the control group, and patients needed to fill in the "Mongolian Knee Osteoarthritis Risk Factors and TCM Syndrome Investigation Form"(schedule). The orthopedic doctor determines and verifies the patient's diagnosis, and judges the TCM syndrome types. The univariate and multivariate non-conditional logistic regression statistical methods were used to analyze the risk factors of Mongolian KOA and The TCM syndromes of Mongolian KOA.Chi-square test or rank sum test were used to summarize the distribution characteristics of each relevant factor.Furthermore, the risk factors of Mongolian KOA and its correlation with TCM syndrome types were analyzed and described. Results A total of 321 cases were investigated, including 150 cases in the case group and 171 cases in the control group.gender, age,BMI,attention to knee joint warmth, exercise, long riding history,cross-sitting habit, and working habit of squatting andkneeling are risk factors of knee osteoarthritis for Mongolian.Among the patients with knee osteoarthritis of Mongolian people, there were 72 cases(48%)of wind-cold and dampness bi,24 cases(16%)of blood stasis bi,and 54 cases(36%)of kidney deficiency and blood stasis bi.The factors of wind-cold and dampness bi include attention to knee joint warmth, long riding history and man.The factors of blood stasis syndrome include exercise and long riding history. The factor of kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome was working habit of squatting and kneeling(P< 0.05).Conclusion Compared with other age groups,Mongolian people in the 65-74 age group had the highest risk of knee osteoarthritis, and the risk increased with the increase of BMI.Women, people who paid little attention to knee joint warmth, less exercise,a long history of horseback riding, intermittent cross-sitting habit and squatting and kneeling working habit were all risk factors.Mongolian patients with knee joint osteoarthritis were mainly wind-cold and dampness-bi.At the same time,it was concluded that the symptoms of wind-cold and dampness-bi were more common in male patients who did not pay much attention to the warmth of knee joints and had a long history of horseback riding.Patients with more exercise and longer riding time were more likely to be diagnosed with blood stasis. The patients who often have the habit of squatting and kneeling are more likely to be diagnosed as kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome.
