Objective: To research the influence factors and TCM syndrome characteristics of 137 knee osteoarthritis patients and bring up the influence factors that have significant differences. Study the distribution differences based on disparate TCM syndrome characteristics. Attempt to give prevent suggestions and suspect the relativity of TCM syndrome characteristics and influence factors. Methods: To take 137 KOA patients from Liaoning university of TCM affiliated hospital and Liaoning traditional Chinese recovery center and 137 people without KOA between Nov.2014 to Mar.2016 to case group and control group. This people were done a questionnaire face to face. Data collected from the questionnaires need to be established into excel files. The two groups conducted case-control study. The collected data were analyzed using chi-square text and univariate logistic regression analysis which reached a preliminary screening then multivariate logistic regression analysis was needed to gain further selection. Using the case group data to study the relativity of TCM syndrome characteristics and influence factors with chi-square text. Results: This research was a face to face interview without drop. A total of 274 subjects were investigated in this study including 137 patients with KOA and 137 in control. The results are as follow: Results of chi-square text and univariate logistic regression analysis: Sex, P=0.001,ORfemale=2.218(95%CI:1.356-3.629);age,P=0.002,OR50-59=2.051(95%CI:0.96-4.384),OR60-69=3.441(95%CI:1.666-7.110),OR70-79=2.449(95%CI:1.161-5.163);BMI,P<0.001,OR23-25kg/m2=1.807(95%CI:0.985-3.312),OR> 25kg/m2=5.157(95%CI:2.535-10.490);knee trauma history,P<0.001,ORyes=4.350(95%CI:1.819-10.406);with other joints’ OA,P<0.001,ORyes=7.207(95%CI:2.914-17.824);activity amount(work, exercise),P<0.001,ORmoderate=1.727(0.838-3.561),ORover=5.899(95%CI:2.823-12.329);occupational habit,P<0.001,ORstanding=3.274(95%CI:1.619-6.619),ORwalking=2.324(95%CI:1.108-4.871),ORweight bearing=25(95%CI:9.029-69.221),habitual residence,P=0.1;family heredity of OA,P=0.254;smoking,P=0.015,OR1-10/day=0.439(95%CI=0.210-0.914),OR11-20/day=0.507(95%CI:0.261-0.986),OR>20/day=0.396(95%CI:0.178-0.882);drinking,P<0.001,OR1-3times/week=0.353(95%CI:0.207-0.602),ORdaily=0.967(95%CI:0.470-1.988),osteoporosis,P<0.001,ORyes=4.987(95%CI:2.811-8.846);suffering from other serious diseases now,P=0.013,ORyes=2.020(95%CI:1.156-3.528)。 Results of multivariate logistic regression analysis: Sex,ORfemale=5.786(95%CI:1.784-18.770);BMI,OR23-25kg/m2=7.503(95%CI:1.935-29.100),OR> 25kg/m2=61.033(95%CI:8.153-456.911);knee trauma history,ORyes=17.109(95%CI:4.021-72.796);activity amount(work, exercise),ORover=16.565(95%CI:3.376-81.269);occupational habit,ORstanding=19.046(95%CI:3.912-92.723),ORwalking=6.545(95%CI:125.945-28928.655),ORweight bearing=1908.775(125.945-28928.655);smoking,OR1-10/day=0.130(95%CI=0.026-0.658),OR11-20/day=0.008(95%CI:0.001-0.075),OR>20 /day=0.115(95%CI:0.019-0.693),osteoporosis,ORyes=6.418(95%CI:2.245-18.348)。 Results of chi-square text on TCM syndrome characteristics and influence factors: Sex,P=0.668;age,P<0.001;BMI,P=0.017;knee trauma history,P=0.133;with other joints’ OA,P=0.089;activity amount(work, exercise),P=0.201;occupational habit,P=0.051;habitual residence,P=0.384;family heredity of OA,P=0.416;smoking,P=0.014;drinking,P=0.118;osteoporosis,P=0.131;suffering from other serious diseases now,P=0.162。Conclusion: Among all the influence factors female, BMI>23kg/m2, knee trauma history, standing too much or weigh bearing too much and osteoporosis are the main influence factors. Age and BMI show the significant difference on TCM syndrome characteristics.
