Background:Knee osteoarthritis is common chronic joint disease, with high prevalence, range, severe degree of late dysfunction. In recent years, the incidence of knee osteoarthritis have no obvious change in many countries, but across the world, new cases each year still continue to increase due to the increasing degree of population aging. The osteoarthritis seriously influenced the middle-aged and old people’s quality of life, brought a heavy burden to family and society. Unfortunately, knee osteoarthritis pathogenesis is still unclear. The cause of the disease is still not determined. The influence factors have different reported results. Most scholars believe that the knee joint osteoarthritis pathogenesis risk factors include:gender, age, heredity, obesity, professional, damage, climate factors, excessive activity, etc.. But study on the risk factors of lifestyle, eating habits, exercise habits is relatively less.Research purposes:To explore the causes of knee osteoarthritis pathogenesis, middle-aged and old teachers in Shandong university were investigated the current situation of the disease. The related influencing factors of the disease were analyzed to explore the pathogenesis of the disease risk factors, and to provide scientific and effective measures for the prevention and treatment of knee osteoarthritis,.Materials and methods:1770teachers with40-89years in Shandong University were investigated from June2013to December2013in our university medical center. The knee joint osteoarthritis were confirmed by the American rheumatism association in1986on knee joint osteoarthritis diagnostic criteria. The crowd self-designed questionnaire, namely the knee osteoarthritis epidemiological survey, includes15items:gender, age, height, weight, history of alcohol, tobacco, living environment, diet, and exercise habits. The questionnaire survey was carried out for the people. The collected data were established and analyzed using SPSS17.0software, respectively, according to the history of sex, age, BMI, alcohol and tobacco, movement and other factors.Main results:1. The prevalence of knee osteoarthritis in the research is18.70%. 2. The knee osteoarthritis prevalence of the male(14.36%) was significantly lower than that of the female (21.45%)(P<0.001).3. The elder the subject was, the higher the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis was.4. The prevalence of the subjects with BMI>24was higher than that with BMI<24(P<0.001).5. The prevalence of the subjects who run stairs often was higher than that who run stairs seldom(P<0.001).6. The prevalence of the subjects who live in wet environment was higher than that who live in non-wet environment (P<0.001).7. The prevalence of the subjects who have a family history of knee joint osteoarthritis was higher than that who haven’t a family history of knee joint osteoarthritis (P<0.001).8. The prevalence was different among those who have different eating habits. The prevalence of the subjects who often eat vegetables, fruit, soy products, and meat was lower than that who seldom eat(P<0.05).Conclusion and suggestion:Our research suggested that the influence factors of knee osteoarthritis disease include:age, gender, overweight or obese, heredity, environment humidity, stairs, eating habits. Furthermore, age, menopausal women, overweight or obese, heredity, environment humidity, running stairs are risk factors for knee osteoarthritis. However, vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, soy products are protective factors for the disease. In a word, the pathogenesy of knee osteoarthritis is the result of multiple risk factors, and the correct and efficient measures according to our research should be chosen to effectively reduce the incidence of the disease.
