Objective:To understand the current situation of knowledge, belief and behaviors of non-medical col lege students related to chronic diseases,;to explore factors that affect knowledge, belief and beha viors of non-medical college students related to chronic diseases;to build a structural equation mo del based on the three factors of chronic-disease-related cognition, belief and behaviors of non-med ical college students,to explore the relationship between various factors and effect sizes, and to ex plore how to carry out knowledge education among college students.References can be provided through changes in behaviors during early preventions of chronic diseasesMethods:The questionnaire used in this study is based on the KAP theory, referring to Wu Xianti ng and other scholars' questionnaires on the current situation of cognition of chronic diseases amon g students studying in normal colleges and universities of science and technology, which is revised through expert interviews and pre-surveys.Based on stratified cluster sampling, four non-medical majors were randomly selected from a university in Henan Province in November 2018.Each maj or was stratified by grade, from each of which two administrative classes were randomly selected The selected classes were grouped into several samples,in which a total of 1384 people were in vestigated through questionnaire.1232 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective recove ry rate of 89.5%.SPSS 22.0 and Amos 22.0 were used for data analyses.Statistical methods such as mean, standard deviation and percentage were used to describe the general demographic charac teristics of non-medical college students as well as general demographic characteristics and the stat us quo of cognition, belief and behaviors of chronic diseases;chi square test,one-way ANOVA a nd logistic regression analysis are used to explore relevant factors affecting knowledge, belief and behaviors of college students related to chronic diseases;a structural equation model was built to explore the relationship among cognition, belief and behaviors of non-medical college students relat ed to STD of slow diseasesResults:(1)The average cognitive score of non-medical college students was 66.04±37.75.Ther e were significant differences in cognition of chronic-disease-related knowledge among non-medical college students(P<0.05).(2)The average score of non-medical college students' belief in ch ronic diseases was 57.91±27.05.There were significant differences in the belief of chronic diseas es between both genders as well as among different grades, residences, parents' educational backgr ounds, medical workers in their families and those living with grandparents(P<0.05).(3)Chr onic-disease-related behaviors and habits:19%of people smoked,24%had drinking behaviors,38%had few exercises,34%had no habit of breakfast,70%had unbalanced meat and vegetable c ollocations,42%had a salty taste and 72%went to bed after 11 o'clock.(4)The value of structu ral equation model of chronic-disease-related knowledge, belief and behaviors of non-medical colleg e students was 433.425,v=461,/v=0.940(P?0.01).The cognition of non-medical college st udents about chronic diseases would have a direct impact on their beliefs, the coefficient of non-m edical college students' daily behaviors would be directly affected by their beliefs about chronic di seases, and that of non-medical college students' daily behaviors would be 0.551;that of non-medi cal college students' daily behaviors would be directly affected by their beliefs about chronic disea ses,and that of non-medical college students' cognition about chronic diseases would be 0.492,am ong which coefficients of direct effects were 0.551 and 0.377,and the indirect effect coefficient of cognition on behaviors through belief was 0.115.Conclusion:(1)non-medical college students had a low cognitive and belief level together with poor behavioral habits in knowledge related to chronic diseases.(2)non-medical college students with di fferent genders, grades, places of origin and families with medical workers had different cognition of knowledge related to chronic diseases.Respondents with different genders, grades, places of ori gin, parents' educational backgrounds, medical workers in their families and those living with the e lderly had different attitudes towards chronic diseases.(3)there was a correlation among the cogni tion, attitude and behaviors of non-medical college students towards chronic diseases. On the whol e,cognition and attitude had a positive effect on behaviors, and cognition also had a positive effe ct on attitude.Attitude also played a key role in the formation or changes of behaviors.
