Objective: To provide the evidence on effectivenutritional education and service by the analysis of nutritional knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)amongcollege students in Suzhou.To assess theintervention effects of different nutritional educations among the college students.Methods: 1)Baseline of KAP:Using two order random sampling method,total 895 college students from 25 classes of 5 collegeswere extracted.The scores of KAP were collected by Questionnaire of nutritional knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)for college students in Suzhou.2)Intervention study : According to the results of baseline scores,3 classes were selected as control group,comprehensiveeducation group and courseseducation group.Through an academic year situational education,theintervention effects of nutritional KAP were compared among 3 groups.Results:1)Baseline of KAP:Among 895 college students,the average scores were18.19±3.67,26.43±5.61,and 37.25±6.07,innutritional knowledge,nutritional attitude,and nutritional practice,respectively.Thus,Total score was 81.87±10.38.The nutritional knowledge,attitude and total scores were significantly higher in female students than in male students.The nutritional knowledge,attitude and total scores were significantly higher in studentsmajored in nutrition than in other students.The nutritional knowledge score was significantly higher in undergraduates than in junior college students;while this relationship was opposite in nutritional attitude score.The nutritional knowledge score was significantly higher in urban residencestudentsthan in rural residencestudents.The nutritional knowledge and total scores were significantly higher in students who's food expenditure was 500 Yuan to 1000 Yuan permonth than students who's expenditure was1000 Yuan to 1500 Yuan and 1500 Yuan to 2000 Yuan permonth.There were no significant differences on nutritional KAP scores among the students of different ages.The nutritional practice scores among the students of different characteristics had no significantdifferences.2)Intervention effects:The scores of nutritional knowledge,practice and total significantly increased from 17.08±3.25,38.83±6.27 and 83.59±9.46 to 20.54±2.78,44.25±3.70and92.56±5.98 after intervention in comprehensiveeducation group;however,no effect in nutritionalattitude score was observed.The nutritional KAP and total scores significant increasedfrom 17.68±3.20,27.87±4.31,38.87±5.89 and 84.42±9.78 to 24.40±2.84,31.85±3.12,42.28±4.57 and 98.53±7.86,respectively,after intervention in courseseducation group.There were significant improvements in nutritional KAP and total scores after intervention in comprehensiveeducation group and courseseducation group,and the differences of mean scores are 2.58 and 6.43,2.54 and 6.63,6.96 and 4.99,12.08 and 18.05.The nutritional knowledge,attitude and total scores from courseseducation group were higher than those from comprehensiveeducation group,and the differences of mean scores are 3.85,4.09 and 5.97,respectively.The nutritional practice score from comprehensiveeducation group is higher than the one from courseseducation group,and the difference ofmean score was 1.97.Conclusion:College students in Suzhou were lack of nutritionalknowledge and poor innutritional practice.However,they were positive in nutritionalattitude.Nutritional education obviously increased the level of nutritional KAP.Courseseducation intervention was more helpful for nutritionalknowledge,correcting nutritionalattitude;while comprehensiveeducationintervention was more helpful for nutritional practice.
