Clinical Effect Of WenBi Decoction On Cold-Dampness Pattern Of Lumber Intervertebral Disc Herniation

?Objectives? The objective is to make an objective evaluation of the clinical efficacy and safety of WenBi Decoction in the treatment of Cold-Dampness Pattern of lumber intervertebral disc herniation(LDH),for exploring the characteristic role of traditional Chinese medicine in the clinical treatment of LDH and providing more ideas for pattern differentiation and treatment for LDH.?Methods? There were 72 patients with Cold-Dampness Pattern of LDH from the department of orthopedics in the third affiliated hospital of Yunnan university of traditional Chinese medicine,who were collected and divided into observation group and control group with 36 cases each.And 62 cases were eventually collected owing to some reasons,including expulsion and discontinuation of treatment.There were 31 cases collected in the observation group and the control group respectively.Patients in both groups received general treatment.The observation group gets treatment of WenBi Decoction,and the control group gets treatment of Diclofenac Sodium Dual Release Enteric-coated Capsule for 7 days.Some indexes were obtained for the two groups,which were Visual Analogue Score(VAS),The Oswestry Disability Index(ODI),Japanese Orthopedic Association score(JOA)and TCM pattern score.The effectiveness and safety of WenBi Decoction in treating ColdDampness Pattern of LDH were evaluated by statistical analysis of the two groups of data.?Results? 1.Pain improvement:VAS of the two groups was statistically significant after 3 days' treatment and 7 days after treatment(P<0.05).VAS of the control group after 3 days of treatment was lower than the observation group,and the improvement of VAS was more obvious than the observation group.Seven days after treatment,VAS of the improvement in the observation group was better than the control group.2.Lumber Function: After treatment,the ODI score of both groups was lower than that at the first assessment,with statistically significant difference(P < 0.05),and the improvement was more obvious in the observation group.There was a statistical difference in JOA score and improvement rate between the two groups(P< 0.05).The JOA score and improvement rate of JOA score of the observation group were higher than the control group.3.Improvement of TCM Syndrome: There was a statistical difference between the two groups after 7 days of treatment(P < 0.05).The TCM pattern score of the observation group was lower than the control group,and the evaluation of TCM disease diagnosis efficacy was better than that of the control group.?Conclusions? This study indicated that WenBi Decoction has a definite clinical effect on the Cold-Dampness Pattern of LDH.It has obvious effect on alleviating pain,and relieving symptoms of LDH and the TCM symptom,and there is no definite adverse reaction in short-term use.
