Purpose: In this study, moderate intensity aerobic exercise was performed on obese college students. The purpose of the study was to explore the effects of the moderate intensity aerobic exercise on function of common carotid arteries and hope to provide a theoretical basis for the research on exercise intervention in obese people. Methods: 60 male college students aged 18-19 with obesity were randomly divided into experimental and control group on average. The experimental group received the aerobic exercise intervention of moderate intensity for 12 weeks and the exercise program was brisk walking,3-5 times a week,45 minutes each time. There was no exercise intervention in control group except the seminar about healthy living weekly.Body composition index, blood pressure and heart rate index and hemodynamic index were tested before and after exercise intervention.all indexes in two groups were analyzed by the independent sample T test and paired sample T test.Results:1.There was no significant difference in two groups before the intervention(P > 0.05).After 12 weeks exercise intervention, the body composition in the experimental group showed a downward trend compared with the control group, but there was no distinct difference in two groups(P > 0.05).2.Systolic blood pressure(P < 0.01)and heart rate(P < 0.05)were significantly decreased in the experimental group, and diastolic blood pressure showed a downward trend, but the difference was not statistically significant compared with the control group(P > 0.05).3.After intervention, compared with the control group, peripheral resistance(P < 0.05),dynamic resistance(P < 0.01)and oscillating shear index(P < 0.05)in the experimental group decreased remarkably. The wall shear stress increased prominently(P < 0.01).The blood flow velocity(P < 0.01)and blood flow rate(P < 0.01)increased significantly in one cardiac cycle.Arterial diameter and stiffness showed a decreasing trend, but no statistical significance(P > 0.05).Conclusions:(1)Scientific and reasonable aerobic exercise could improve the blood pressure and heart rate of obese people, which had a positive impact on human body function.(2)12 weeks aerobic exercise could significantly reduce some hemodynamic index in common carotid artery, but there were no significant changes in the body composition and arterial structure including vascular diameter and arterial stiffness.(3)Continuous aerobic exercise could change the circulation function of carotid artery in a short period of time, while the changes in the vascular structure of the carotid artery need to be stimulated by a long-term blood flow.
