Objective: The growing incidence of obesity in adolescents is more and more obvious in our country,which threaten the health of the new generation.Epicardial adipose tissue,which is a part of the visceral fat, maybe play an important role in the occurrence and development of cardiovascular disease and metabolic disease in obesity,The purpose of this paper is to study the metabolism value of epicardial adipose and the influence of aerobic exercise to epicardial adipose tissue(EAT)thickness in obese adolescents.Methods: 47 obese adolescents(BMI?28 kg/m2;average age 17.93 ± 0.84) and29 normal weight adolescents(18 ? BMI < 24 kg/m2, average age 17.86 ± 0.52)involve in this study, and take part in 3 months of aerobic exercise.biochemical indexs,the human body composition and epicarial adipose thickness are measured before and after exercise intervention.Results:The epicarial adipose thickness of obese adolescents(1.62±0.523mm)is higher than that of normal weight adolescents(0.973±0.302mm)before the exercise training, and shows significant correlation with weight, body fat, blood pressure,Home-IR,uric acid and triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(P<0.05).Following 3 months exercise,the thick of EAT in obese group(1.13±0.362mm)is significantly decreased, and the percentage change of EAT is greater than weight and body fat.There are 31.91% obese subjects that have metabolic syndrome(MS)and 21.28% obese subjects that have hypertension before the intervention,but only one person have MS in normal weight group.However, the incidence rates of MS and hypertension are decreased after exercise training.Although the insulin resistance is obvious in obese adolescents(HOME-IR 4.85±1.89),the phenomenon takes a turn for the better with the physical exercise, serum adiponectin increase significantly at the same time.Conclusion: aerobic exercise can reduce epicardial fat thickness of obese adolescents effectively, increase insulin sensitivity, decrease the incidence rate ofmetabolic syndrome and hypertension.
