Objective We investigated the prevalence of malnutrition,overweight and obesity in primary and middle school students from 7yr to 18 yr in Anhui province in order to find out the nutrition status distribution of these students and provide scientific basics for improvement activities.Method We selected three cities in Anhui province,Suzhou,Hefei and Chizhou city.There were 10 782 students taken in this research in total.We obtained the date of height and weight by physical examination,calculated the body mass index(BMI)and screened the malnutrition students by national standard published in 2005.Then we analyse the prevalence between different ages,rural and urban students or male and female students.Results 1.In the primary and middle school students,the malnutrition prevalence of male students was higher then female.The prevalence in 14 yr and 17 yr groups were higher then female students,either.In male students,the prevalence of 11 yr,17yr and 18 yr group excess 15%.2.Urban male students malnutrition prevalence was 8.19%.It was significantly lower than rural male students.Meanwhile,the prevalence of rural male students in group 9yr,10yr,12 yr,15yr,16 yr and 17 yr were higher than rural students.The prevalence in high school students was higher than the other two groups in male students.The total prevalence in female students was 8.8%.There was not significant difference between urban and rural female students.The malnutrition prevalence of urban female students was 8.3%,the thinness was 3.75% and the short stature was 4.58%.The malnutrition prevalence of rural female students was 9.3%,the thinness was 3.55% and the short stature was 5.75%.3.The prevalence of overweight and obesity in students was 20.58%,the male students was 21.80% and significantly higher then the female students,which was 19.50%.The prevalence in urban area was higher then the rural area,the rate was 22.23% vs.19.02.The lowest prevalence of overweight and obesity in male students was in 12 yr group,it was 12.22%.In female students,it was in the 11 yr group,the prevalence was 9.73.The prevalence was over 20% in male students from 7yr to 13 yr and in female students from 7yr to 12 yr.Only in 11 yr and 17 yr groups,the prevalence in male students was significantly higher then female.Conclusions In the 10 782 Anhui primary and middle school students,the students in malnutrition were 1022,the rate was 9.48.The malnutrition prevalence in male students was 10.30%,in female students was 8.8%,in urban area was 8.26% and in rural area was 10.63%.The prevalence in male students was higher then female students,rural area was higher than urban area.There was not significant difference between urban and rural area in female students.There were 2219 students were overweight or obesity,the prevalence was 20.58.The prevalence of male students was 21.80%,female students was 19.50%.The urban area was higher than rural area,no matter male or female students,or in total.From 7yr to 12 yr,the overweight and obesity prevalence were higher than 20%.
