Investigation On Knowledge,Attitude And Behavior And Influencing Factors Of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Among Nursing College Students

Objectives To investigate the knowledge,attitudes and relevant behaviors about pulmonary tuberculosis among nursing college students and to provide evidence for further strengthening the education of tuberculosis prevention among medical college students.Methods 1113 nursing college students who were stratified by grade were investigated in the questionnaire.The questionnaire included general demographics,tuberculosis knowledge,attitudes and behavior.The data were analyzed with SPSS16.0 software.The data disobeying normal distribution were expressed as M(P₂₅,P₇₅).Comparisons between groups were tested by rank test.Associations among TB knowledge,attitude and behaviors were analyzed by logistic regression.Results The total awareness rate of tuberculosis was 64.5%,and the single awareness rate ranged from 42.5%to 92.0%.Among them,the awareness rate about designated institutions for tuberculosis examination and treatment was the highest,while the awareness rate about national tuberculosis related relief policy was the lowest.The attitude holding rate ranged from 57.8%to 98.7%.The lowest rate of attitude holding was 57.8%.The behavioral holding rate of pulmonary tuberculosis prevention and treatment among nursing students ranged from 55.5%to 96.5%.Among them,The behavioral holding rate that they took the initiative to transfer knowledge of tuberculosis to family and friends was the lowest?55.5%?.The result of logistic regression analysis among knowledge,attitude and behavior showed that the scores of pulmonary tuberculosis knowledge were influenced by gender?OR:2.128,95%CI:1.330,3.404,P=0.002?,grade?OR:0.385,95%CI:0.307,0.482,P<0.002?,education levels of father?OR:0.505,95%CI:0.288,0.885,P=0.017?and health education?OR:1.885,95%CI:1.501,2.368,P<0.001?.The scores of attitudes were influenced by grade?OR:P0.632,95%CI:0.508,0.786,P<0.001?and health education?OR:1.534,95%CI:1.228,1.916,P<0.001?,and the scores of behaviors were influenced by average family income?OR:1.294,95%CI:1.020,1.642,P=0.034?and health education?OR:1.950,95%CI:1.550,2.452,P<0.001?.Conclusion Compared with the target of the knowing rate of tuberculosis core knowledge for all the people?85%?,the knowing rate of nursing students'tuberculosis core knowledge needs to be improved.Colleges should not only propagate the basic knowledge of tuberculosis in the process of health education on tuberculosis,but also strengthen the knowledge of the relevant free policies of the country on tuberculosis.In the attitude of tuberculosis prevention and control,nursing colleges have not yet fully established a scientific attitude and the phenomenon of tuberculosis discrimination is worthy of attention especially.In the process of health education on tuberculosis,students should be fully aware of the dangers of concealing tuberculosis,discriminating against tuberculosis patients and students should be encouraged to treat tuberculosis scientifically and reduce discrimination against tuberculosis on campus.Students'behavior towards tuberculosis prevention and treatment is generally good,but the initiative to spread knowledge about tuberculosis is far from enough.In the process of health education on pulmonary tuberculosis,college should not only encourage students to maintain good behavior habits of disease prevention,but also call on medical students to have a sense of responsibility,so that medical students could really become the main force in the propaganda of tuberculosis.
