Objective To investigate and understand the basic knowledge of AIDS and the in-depth knowledge of AIDS among college students in Guangxi,the awareness of AIDS risk,the high-risk sexual behavior of AIDS,and the ways and needs of AIDS knowledge acquisition among college students,and to analyze the differences of AIDS prevention knowledge among college students in Guangxi and its key influencing factors,as well as the awareness rate of AIDS knowledge and AIDS knowledge in different degrees.The relationship between risk awareness and high-risk sexual behavior can be used to compare the difference between the basic knowledge of AIDS and the in-depth knowledge of AIDS on the knowledge,belief and behavior of college students in Guangxi,to provide a theoretical basis for finding more practical and operational content of AIDS knowledge survey,and to discuss the content and form of a more effective AIDS education model suitable for colleges and universities in Guangxi.Method This study adopts stratified random cluster sampling method and divides Guangxi universities into four types:comprehensive,medical,normal,vocational and technical.Two schools are selected for each type,and two to three classes are randomly selected from eight universities.All the students in the selected classes are investigated.Under the principle of informed consent and confidentiality,anonymous self-administered questionnaires were conducted,including demographic characteristics,basic knowledge of AIDS,in-depth knowledge of AIDS,awareness of AIDS risk,high-risk sexual behaviors of AIDS and knowledge needs of AIDS among college students.In-depth knowledge of AIDS refers to the"Eight Articles of the State"and eight topics are selected.On the basis of relevant research,specific questions are screened and answered on the topics of sexual prevention,whether AIDS can be cured,whether it can be prevented by vaccines,and the epidemic situation of young students,which have a relatively low correct rate.Finally,the research needs are designed based on the experience and problems found in the practical work in peacetime.Health Knowledge Questionnaire on AIDS Prevention for College Students.The contents of the questionnaires included:demographic characteristics of society,basic knowledge of AIDS knowledge,in-depth knowledge of AIDS,high-risk sexual behaviors of AIDS,the situation of AIDS prevention and education in universities,and the needs of AIDS knowledge among college students.Descriptive statistical analysis,paired sample T-test and chi-square test,and taking the factors of gender,school,grade elective/compulsory courses,lectures,propaganda boards and student associations as independent variables,the basic knowledge of AIDS("Eight Articles")and the awareness rate of AIDS in-depth knowledge as dependent variables,respectively.the unconditional binary logistic regression model were used to analyze the data.The OR(95%CI)value was calculated by selecting the variables P<0.05 and excluding P<0.01 as the test level.Result In this study,730 college students were investigated,including389 males and 341 females,aged 17-28 years,with an average age of 19.5 years,490 Han,154 Zhuang and 56 other ethnic minorities.There are 193,178,166and 193 students in comprehensive,medical,normal and vocational colleges respectively.The score of AIDS in-depth knowledge of the respondents was significantly lower than that of AIDS basic knowledge(t=21.459,P<0.001),and the difference of AIDS in-depth knowledge between different types of colleges and different majors was statistically significant.Medical college students had the highest awareness rate,followed by vocational and technical,comprehensive and normal schools(c~2=17.88,P=0).Medical students had the highest awareness rate,followed by literature,science,engineering,economics and pedagogy(c~2=24.07,P<0.001);there was no significant difference between different genders,birthplaces and ethnic groups.College students with high awareness rate of AIDS in-depth knowledge have high awareness of AIDS risk(c~2=11.90,P=0.001).College students with high awareness rate of AIDS in-depth knowledge also tend to use condoms every time they have sex(c~2=5.06,P=0.024).Basic knowledge of AIDS has no effect on AIDS risk awareness and adherence to condom use.Colleges and universities carry out AIDS propaganda and education through elective/compulsory courses,lectures,propaganda boards,community activities,organizing VCT,broadcasting small movies,etc.,while community activities(OR=2.912,90%CI:1.280,6.624)are effective ways for college students to acquire basic knowledge of AIDS("Eight Countries");elective/compulsory courses(OR=2.141,90%CI:1.442,3.180),propaganda boards and newspapers are offered.(OR=3.590,90%CI:1.919,6.744),organizing VCT(OR=1.762,90%CI:1.148,2.705)are three effective ways for college students to acquire in-depth knowledge of AIDS.In addition,grade factors are also the key factors affecting in-depth knowledge of AIDS(OR=1.6,90%CI:1.189,2.076).There were differences in the way of receiving AIDS education and propaganda among different types of college students in elective/compulsory courses(c~2=87.26,P<0.001),lectures(c~2=18.41,P<0.001)and VCT(c~2=36.59,P<0.001).There was no significant difference in participating in student associations and propaganda boards.Ninety college students answered that they had ever had sex.The average age of first sexual intercourse was 16.31±5.85.Most of them were male/girlfriend sexual intercourse(86.7%).Only 51.1%(46/90)of them could insist on using condom every time,22.2%(20/90)of them never used condom,and 26.7%(24/90)of them could only insist on using condom sometimes.91.9%(671/730)of college students acquire AIDS knowledge through the Internet,which is the second most important way after 94.8%(692/730)of school education.College students'AIDS knowledge needs rank the top three respectively:prevention methods,treatment methods,how to do testing.Conclusion 1.The awareness rate of AIDS basic knowledge is not enough to reflect the true degree of AIDS knowledge grasped by college students in Guangxi,while the depth of AIDS knowledge grasped by college students is closely related to their awareness of AIDS risk and prevention behavior.It is necessary to introduce in-depth knowledge of AIDS as an evaluation tool to evaluate the knowledge level of AIDS among college students in Guangxi.2.Offering elective/compulsory courses,publicity boards,organizing and developing VCT and different grades are the influencing factors of AIDS in-depth knowledge.Considering the degree of AIDS in-depth knowledge mastered by college students of different types,the differences of different ways of AIDS education accepted by college students of different types,and the knowledge needs and ways of College students,the content of AIDS education and publicity in Colleges and universities in Guangxi has some aspects.It is necessary to strengthen AIDS in-depth knowledge and sexual knowledge.In order to deepen the depth of education and increase the sustainability of publicity,we should strengthen the relevant courses and organize VCT activities,adopt a comprehensive model combining authenticity and network.
