Background Oral health is an important part of the human health,maintaining measurable oral health behavior leads to great significant of individual oral health.Oral health knowledge and behavior determine oral health status.Pericoronitis,tooth decay and gingivitis are high-risk disease among college students.To investigate the related influencing factors of oral health knowledge attitude and behavior among normal college freshmen,and provide powerful evidence for correlative intervention measures,it is of great significance to prevent the occurrence of oral disease in this special group.Domestic and foreign scholars had done a lot of research on the knowledge attitude and behavior among college students,but only a little survey have been conducted in normal college freshmen.Research Objective Through investigating oral health knowledge attitude and behavior among normal college freshmen and analyzing influencial factors,relevant intervention measures should be adopted to provide theoretical basis for further improvement of oral health education work and implementation of relevant intervention measures.Methods On the basis of the questionnaire for the fourth national oral health epidemiology survey as well as the purpose of the study,750 freshmen were recruited using cluster sampling method.The questionnaire was formed by the assessment of oral professional experts in the first affiliated hospital of Anhui medical university.By the author and investigator(who had been unified training)going to each class and explaining research purpose,after filling out the attention and secret of the investigation,students lived independently and be took back on-site inspection,for the purpose of finding which questionnaire information was not completed in time and regression,or was not completed as required.During the data entry stage,the data quality was controlled by logic error,and 10% data was randomly selected.Epidata3.0 method was used to input data and SPSS17.0 statistical software was used for statistical description and single factor analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis.Results The mean score of knowledge was 6.92 ± 1.86,among that girls' score were higher than boys'(P<0.05);The mean score of attitude was 17.78 ± 1.92,girls' score were higher than boys'(P<0.05),students with siblings' were higher than the only-child(P<0.05);The mean score of behavior was 16.72 ± 2.77,boys' were higher than girls'(P<0.05);Scores of urban students were higher than rural students(P<0.05);Students with high degree of maternal education scored better in oral health behavior than those with low maternal culture(P<0.05).;Oral health knowledge,attitude and behavior had positive correlation(P<0.5).Conclusion Oral health attitude of freshmen was well,while their oral health knowledge and behavior need to be improved.Correct guidance of oral health knowledge and behavior should be strengthened.Different characteristics of freshmen scored differently,so it is necessary to establish education plan targetedly according to different family background and economic conditions,the source of the rural and urban students geographical differences,only children and students with siblings' family environment,and different gender students.Oral health education and quality of their life can be promoted in future.
