Clinical Observation Of Treatment With Thumbtack-needle Therapy On VDT Asthenopia

Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of the thumbtack-needle therapy on VDT asthenopia by observing the improvement of ocular symptoms,systemic symptoms and conjunctival congestion after the treatment of needle-embedding,provide an effective,safe,simple and acceptable therapy for VDT asthenopia.Methods:60 cases of patients with VDT asthenopia enrolled in the trial were randomly divided into treatment group(30 cases)and control group(30 cases).The treatment group received the thumbtack-needle therapy on Cuanzhu(BL2),Taiyang(EX-HN5),Sibai(ST2),Ganshu(BL18),Shenshu(BL21),the control group received the treatment of Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops,both for 14 days.Then observe the changes of ocular symptoms,systemic symptoms and conjunctival congestion degree before and after the treatment,and evaluate the safety and compliance of the trial.Results:1.Before the treatment,the differences of gender,age,myopic diopter,course,daily VDT contact time,daily sleep time,the OSDI score,the systemic symptom score and the conjunctival congestion degree between two groups werenot statistically significant(P>0.05),the two groups were comparable.2.After the 14-day-treatment,in the 30 cases of treatment group,4 cases were cured(13.33%),19 cases were obviously effective(63.33%),5 cases were effective(16.67%),and 2 cases were noneffective(6.67%),the total effective rate was 93.33%.In the 30 cases of control group,0 case were cured,3 cases were obviously effective(10%),21 cases were effective(70%),and 6 cases were noneffective(20%),the total effective rate was 80%.The difference of curative effect between the two groups has statistic significance(P<0.01),indicates that the curative effect of the treatment group is better than the control group.3.Compared before and after treatment within group,there are statistically significant(P<0.01)in ocular symptoms and systemic symptoms in both groups,and the difference between two groups has statistically significance(P<0.01),indicate that both thumbtack-needle therapy and Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops can improve ocular symptoms and systemic symptoms of VDT asthenopia patients,and thumbtack-needle therapy has better curative effect.4.Compared before and after treatment within group,the difference of conjunctival congestion has statistic significance(P<0.01)in both groups,but the difference between two groups has no statistically significance(P>0.05),indicates that both thumbtack-needle therapy and Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops can relieve conjunctival congestion,and they have equivalent curative effect.Conclusion:1.According to the clinical observation,both and have curative effect on VDT asthenopia.Thumbtack-needle therapy has an advantage over Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops,especially on improving ocular symptoms and systemic symptoms.2.Both thumbtack-needle therapy and Esculin and Digitalis Glycosides Eye Drops can relieve the conjunctival congestion of VDT asthenopia patients,and they have equivalent curative effect.3.The thumbtack-needle therapy is an effective method to treat the VDT asthenopia.It will not affect patients' normal life and work because its simpleoperation only takes a few minutes.The thumbtack-needle is safe because it's too tiny to injure the blood vessels and other tissues.Thanks to the tiny needle,the thumbtack-needle therapy is almost painless so it's easily accepted by patients and worthy of widely promotion in clinical application.
