| Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of thumbtack needle combined with acupuncture in the treatment of vocal nodules.Methods: 60 cases of vocal nodules who come from the Chengdu University of T.C.M were divided into treatment group(treated with acupuncture combined with thumbtack needle) and control group(30 cases, treated with acupuncture. All subjects received 10 intensive session within a 20-day period. Voice Activity and Participation Profile, voice acoustic analysis(jitter and shimmer) and laryngostroboscope were compared before and after the treatment.Results:1.Laryngostroboscope results comparison15 days after the treatment,Laryngostroboscope result of mucosal wave and glottal closure after treatment group compared between before and after the treatment group and comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).2. VAPP integral comparison.15 days after the treatment,VAPP scale scores after treatment group compared between before and after the treatment group and comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3. EGG graph comparison.15 days after the treatment, the results of EGG after treatment group compared between before and after the treatment group and comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4. Voice acoustic analysis comparison.15 days after the treatment, the results of Voice acoustic analysis after treatment group compared between before and after the treatment group and comparison, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: Results revealed significant improvement in the treatment group in four aspects when compared with the control group, and the improvement could be attributed to the reduction of vocal fold mass as a result of the healing of the pathological condition. So the method of acupuncture combined with thumbtack needle in treating patients with vocal nodule is worthy of promotion. |
