Objective:To find out the personality characteristics,negative event stimulus and mental health of patients with sudden deafness,and to explore the influence of psychosocial factors on the occurrence and development of sudden deafness in order to provide reference for the prevention and clinical psychological assistance of sudden deafness.Methods:This study collected 65 cases(case group)of sudden deafness who met the conditions from January 2017 to February 2018 in the outpatient department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University.And compared with the same period to our hospital health examination center of 65 cases of normal health(control group).The survey tools included general situation questionnaire,the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),the Life Events Scale(LES)and the Symptom Checklist(SCL-90).The results were statistically analyze by SPSS 22.0.Statistical methods included Chi-square test and t-test.Results:1.In the case group,there were 36 males and 29 females;aged 18 to 57 years,mean age(38.83±8.26)years;educational level:3 in junior high school,19 in high school or vocational school,43 in undergraduate and above;51 married,unmarried 14 cases;shortest duration of 2 hours,up to 30 days,less than 7 days in 53 cases,7 to 14 days in 10 cases,14 to 30 days in 2 cases;mild hearing loss in 8 cases,moderate hearing loss in 29 cases,severe hearing loss in 17 cases,extremely severe hearing loss in 11 cases.The hearing curve was divided into 31 cases with low-frequency drop,13 cases with high-frequency drop,16 cases with flat drop,and 5 cases with full hearing.In the control group,there were 27 males and 38 females;aged 21-54 years,with an average age of(35.98±10.97)years;educational level:1 in junior high school,25 in high school or vocational school,39 in undergraduate or above;43 married,unmarried 22 cases.There was no significant difference in gender,age,education level and marital status between the two groups(P>0.05),and the balance was comparable.2.The scores of P,N dimensions in the case group were significantly higher than those in the control group.The difference between the groups was statistically significant(P<0.01).The difference 'between the groups about E,L dimensions was not statistically significant(P>0.05).3.In the case group,the negative stimulus total score and family negative event stimulus score were significantly higher than the control group within 1 year before the illness.The difference between the groups was statistically significant(P<0,01).The scores of negative event stimulus in study,work and social interactions were higher than those in the control group,and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).4.The scores of anxiety and depression in the case group were significantly higher than those in the control group.The difference between the groups was statistically significant(P<0.01).And it had higher scores on somatization and hostility than the control group.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the sensitivity of interpersonal relationship,obsessive-compulsive symptoms,terror,paranoia and psychoticism(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Social psychological factors have a certain influence on the occurrence and development of sudden deafness.2.Patients with sudden deafiness with psychoticism and neuroticism are significantly more than those with normal health.They are irritable,emotionally unstable,poorly adapted to society and more likely to experience intense emotional reactions,sometimes perform irrational behavior and often hostile.3.Patients with sudden deafness during the first year before the illness have more negative life events,especially negative family life events than the normal ones.The psychological pressure is great and it has a great impact on the physical and mental health of the patients.lt may be one of the main factors in the illness of sudden deaf patients.4.Sudden deaf patients have more unhealthy psychological symptoms than general people.They have anxiety,depression and hostile emotions and are often accompanied by physical discomfort such as fatigue,poor appetite and nausea.5.Compared with normal people,the overall mental health of patients with sudden deafness is poor.Clinically,we not only give routine medical treatment to these patients,but also pay attention to the patient's personality characteristics and mental health issues.We should provide targeted psychological interventions to achieve better therapeutic effects.
