The Analysis Of The Psychological Factors And Personality Characteristics In Patients With Chronic Cheilitis And Burning Mouth Syndrome

Objective To discuss and analyze the psychological factors and personality characteristics in patients with Chronic cheilitis and Burning mouth syndrome(BMS), which will provide the right reference direction for psychological counseling in patients.Methods Using Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised, Short Scale for Chinese(EPQ-RSC) to evaluate the psychological factors and personality characteristics for patients with Chronic cheilitis(N=43), BMS(N=40), control group A(N=40) and control group B(N=40).There are all no obvious differences in age?gender?nationality of Chronic cheilitis group with control group A and BMS group with control group B. Subjects accomplished questionnaire according to the real result of self-rating which were actually situation of themselves. The questionnaires were reclaimed on the spot. Using SPSS17.0 software to analyze and count the results of the data. Quantitative data was statistical expressed as( x-±s), qualitative data was statistical expressed as percentage. Analysis of variance and independent samples nonparametric tests in four groups were employed as the detective method according to whether the mean square was regular or not.Results1. Chronic cheilitis groups: The average of total points and positive projects of SCL-90 in Chronic cheilitis groups are(2.00±0.50) and 56.12,while in control group A are(1.39±0.23)and 30.40.Compared to the health people,the patients' somatization,obsessive-compulsive disorder,interpersonal sensitivity,depression, anxiety,hostility, phobia, stubborn and psychotic were significantly different(P<0.01). The EPQ-RSC questionnaire shows that the score of psychoticism, nervousness,introversion and extroversion in Chronic cheilitis groups are all different(P<0.05) from control group A, while hide characters are basically the same(P>0.05) in two groups.2. BMS groups: The average of total points and positive projects of SCL-90 in BMS groups are(2.31±0.57) and 60.40, while in control group B are(1.40±0.16) and 31.60. Compared to the health people, the patients' somatization,obsessive-compulsive disorder,interpersonal sensitivity,depression, anxiety,hostility, phobia, stubborn and psychotic were significantly different(P<0.01). The EPQ-RSC questionnaire shows that the score of nervousness, hide characters, introversion and extroversion in BMS groups are all different(P<0.01) from control group B, while psychoticism are basically the same(P>0.05) in two groups.Conclusions1. Compared to the health people, the score(in SCL-90) of patients' somatization,obsessive-compulsive disorder,interpersonal sensitivity,depression, anxiety,hostility, phobia, stubborn and psychotic are all higher in Chronic cheilitis groups and BMS groups. It is suggested that there are serious psychological problems in these patients.2. The EPQ-RSC questionnaire shows that the score of psychoticism, nervousness,introversion and extroversion in Chronic cheilitis groups are all different(P<0.05) from control group A. It is suggested that there are psychotic, introvert and unstable emotion in personality characteristics in theses patients. In BMS groups, the score of nervousness, hide characters, introversion and extroversion are different(P<0.01) from control group B. It is suggested that there are hide characters, introvert and unstable emotion in personality characteristics in BMS patients.3. Trying to use the treatment of BMS for reference in Chronic cheilitis. It can be used to master the methods in the right direction of Chronic cheilitis. But pay attention to the age and gender which may influence the therapeutic effect.
