Clinical Observation On The Efficacy Of Aesthetic Crown Lengthening For The Treatment Of Gummy Smile Malocclusion

ObjectiveSmile is regarded as an important indicator of charm and beauty,affecting the success of social interaction and interpersonal communication and affecting people's self-confidence and work performance.In this paper,the effect of crown lengthening surgery on 14 cases of gummy smile caused by the altered passive eruption was observed and the degree of satisfaction was investigated.Methods14 women a total of 84 dental were enrolled in research projects,aged between 18 and 40 years old.All of them were characterized by incongruity in the ratio of the teeth and lips.The clinical crown was short,the ratio of the crown and the root was coordinated and all the patients had the requirements of anterior teeth gingival smile aesthetic repair,and the whole body was in good condition.The reasons for the gummy smile of these 14 women were analyzed in detail,and the aesthetic crown lengthening was performed for the patients with altered passive eruption.Preoperative and postoperative pictures of jaw,smile and intraoral photographs were taken,preoperative radiographs taken,check the tooth root and alveolar bone,analysis of the current facial aesthetic features of the patient and determine the operation scheme.The aesthetic guide plate was made according to the treatment plan,and crown lengthening treatment was performed.The changes in the length and width-length ratio of the clinical crown of the upper anterior teeth,the changes of the gingival exposure and the changes in the Kay tooth aesthetic classification were evaluated after 6months of the operation,and the satisfaction of the patients before and after the treatment was evaluated by the visual analogue scale.ResultsAbout the 84 teeth of 14 patients,the disproportions of the width-length of the maxillary anterior teeth and the overexposure of the gums in the smile were significantly improved after the aesthetic crown lengthening.Before surgery,the patients were classified into KAY aesthetic classification class II.After crown lengthening treatment,they all reached the Kay aesthetic classification Class II-I(makeup)or Class II-I standard.Gingival aesthetic satisfaction of patients has been significantly improved.ConclusionTo observe 14 patients with 84 teeth of crown lengthening surgery treatment,the results showed that,aesthetic crown lengthening can effectively improve the condition of gummy smile caused by the altered passive eruption,and the satisfaction degree of patients can be significantly improved.
