Results-oriented Clinical Evaluation Of Anterior Tooth Aesthetic Restoration

Background:The use of digitalsmile design offers a new perspective to daily clinical activities,which is widely reported in literature as an objective and efficient communication tool among dentist,patient,and technician because of serving as a starting point for a wax-up and intraoral mock-up.Objective:This paper reports the cases of aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth in clinic,using digital smile design,wax up and mock up in combination to explore the clinical significance of results-oriented aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth and standardize the aesthetic restoration process.Methods:Six patients were selected from September 2017 to December 2019 for aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth in the Department of Prosthodontics,Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Dalian Medical University.A series of aesthetic photos were taken,and EZDSD software was used to analyze the aesthetic problems.According to the standard aesthetic parameters,DSD design was carried out to generate the final simulation effect diagram,and the simulated effect of the designed DSD was transmitted to the laboratory,which was made the wax-up according to the design.The silicone rubber guide is turned over,and its shape is directly copied in the patient's mouth through the silicone rubber guide to make the mock-up,and the oral notice is carried out,so that the patient can see the effect of the restoration directly,and the restoration is carried out by veneering or all ceramic crown after communicating and modifying with the patient and obtaining the consent of the patient.The Kay tooth aesthetic classification and questionnaire were used to investigate patients' satisfaction with restoration(shape,color,function),overall facial effect and doctor-patient communication,and evaluate the final restoration effect.Results:Among the 6 patients,1 was Class ?,2 were Class ?,and 3 were Class?.After careful aesthetic design and standardized clinical operation,5 of them reached class I.The Patient with class ? before operation is still class ? after operation due to refusal of orthognathic surgery.However,the aesthetic defects were covered up by prosthetic methods as much as possible to achieve the acceptable aesthetic effect.Six patients' satisfaction rates of the restoration(shape,color,function)and communication between doctors and patients were as high as 100%.Five patients weresatisfied with the overall effect of the face(83.3%),only one patient was still acceptable,none of them was dissatisfied.Conclusion:The results-oriented aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth can strengthen the communication among doctors,patients and technicians,improve the predictability of treatment and patient satisfaction,and ensure the restoration effect.
