Objective: On the basis of aninfrared thermography,is related acupoints of Hand-Yangming and Hand-Shaoyang meridians are observed before and after application of Extracorporeal Shock Wave(ESW)to patients with Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy and healthy volunteers. The infrared data of body surface temperature of acupoints are collected for statistical analysis, and Visual Analogue Scale/Score(VAS)is applied to evaluate the pain score. In this work,we try to explore the science why related acupoints of Hand-Yangming and Hand-Shaoyang meridians could have a reflection of the Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy lesions.Experimental evidences will be obtained for clinical diagnosis and treatment of cervical spondylosis with related acupoints of Hand-Yangming and Hand-Shaoyang meridians, while the Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy related infrared thermography will be enriched.Method: As the research object,30 healthy volunteers(control group)were selected,as well as 30 patients(treatment group)with cervical pain and right lateral upper extremity pain as well as the mainstay of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Rehabilitation,Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Dalin, from December 2016 to June 2017,on the use of an extracorporeal shock wave therapy device made by the STORZ manufacturing in Switzerland. With the acupoints of LI4,LI10,SJ5 and SJ14 positioned and marked, the upper limbs of affected patients and corresponding upper limbs of healthy volunteers were treated with the acupuncture probes of the extracorporeal shock wave. And the infrared thermography was investigated on the admission day and the day before discharge. Results: 1.For the patients of Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy, before the treatment, the temperature values of the left and right sides of the acupoints measured by the Infrared thermography were statistically analyzed. The results showed that the temperature of both sides of the same acupoint in the treatment group was asymmetrical, with the temperature imbalance(P <0.05).2.Before treatment, compared with healthy people, the mean temperature of selected acupoints of patients with Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy was lower and the difference was significant(P <0.05).3.After treatment, the temperature of both sides of the same acupoints of the patient group was basically symmetrical, without significant difference after treatment(P>0.05).4.After treatment, compared with healthy people, the average temperature of acupoints of patients with cervical spondylosis of radiculopathy has no significant difference(P>0.05).5.Before and after treatment of healthy people, the left and right temperature values of the selected acupoints in the infrared thermography were statistically calculated, showing relatively symmetrical without significant differences(P>0.05).6.Before and after treatment, the VAS score P < 0.05 in the treatment group, with significant differences, indicating immediate improvement in pain in the treatment group after treatment. Conclusion: 1.For healthy people, before and after the application of extracorporeal shock wave therapy, the temperature distribution of Hand-Yangming and Hand-Shaoyang meridians on the left and right sides is relatively uniform, without obvious temperature imbalance.2.For the patients of Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy, whether Hand-Yangming or Hand-Shaoyang meridian, abnormal body surface temperature was noticed in the selected acupoints.Meanwhile, the body surface temperatures of the healthy and lesion sides are significantly different, suggesting that patients with Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy might have pathological reactions in their selected related acupoints.3.Infrared thermography can be used as an effective means of treatment of Cervical Spondylotic radiculopathy.
