| Feline lower urinary tract disease(FLUTD)is essentially an inflammatory condition,which include bladder or urethral diseases such as urethral stones,urinary tract infections,anatomical abnormalities,tumors and behavioral disorders.FLUTD,a multifactorial disease,is characterized by clinical signs such as depression,vomit,dehydration.According to the results from the clinical examination and diagnostic investigation,cats with FLUTD were given the appropriate treatment.A total of 80 cats of different gender,breed and age were analyzed.Through diagnostic investigation,including clinical examination,blood and urine analysis and radiological examinations,may result in determination of the etiopathogenesis in cases of FLUTD.The final diagnosis was made based on urethral obstruction and divided into conservative treatment or operation.Our results showed that the incidence rate of male cats was higher than females,especially in the male cats that had been sterilized from 1 to 3 years old.The incidence rate of American Shorthair and Felinae was more frequently,especially in spring and summer.B-Ultrasound examination was document in 80 cats with FLUTD.53 cats suffered from cystitis(53/80,66.25%),49 cats with bladder crystallization(49/80,61.25%)and 23 cats with bladder stone(23/80,28.75%).Biochemistry tests of 56 cats was performed,19 cases had a renal injury(19/56,33.93%).Blood gas tests of 54 cats showed that 12 cases were ion disturbances(12/54,22.22%),25 cases were acid-base imbalance(29/54,46.29%).Therefore,the frequency of clinical signs were 20% idiopathic cystitis,33.75% lower urinary tract infection,20% bladder stone,17.5% urethral stone,and 8.75% with cystolith and urethral calculus.Conservative treatment was performed to cats without urethral obstruction and the cure rate of was 83.87%,but to cats with incomplete urethral obstruction,the rate was 52.94%.However,surgical treatment of cats with complete urethral obstruction has a better therapeutic efficacy. |
