In order to control and cure the frequently occurring diseases in dogs,216,268 and 165 cases of canine distemper, canine parvovirus and coronavirus disease were ramdonly selected from 10 veterinary clinics in Changsha,China from April 2013 to March 2016, respectively. The related factors such as daily management, typical clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and therapies were investigated and analyzed. The results were as follows:1 EpidemiologyThose diseases were shown common epidemic characteristics. They occured most within 1 years of age (84.5%), in Spring (72.2%),and incidence in females dogs was 13% higher than that in male dogs.20% of cases of canine distemper and canine parvovirus happened in poodles.Compared to other species, poodles were more susceptible to those dieases.18.8% cases of coronavirus disease happened in shepherds, who had the highest incidence compared to others. Pomeranians and labradors were also susceptible to those diseases, and over 15% cases of canine parvovirus and coronavirus disease and 14.3% cases of canine distemper occurred in them. Dogs fed on leftovers possessed the highest incidence, and as a comparation, the incidence of dogs fed on dog food was 10.7%.2 Diagnosis and treatment2.1 Frequency of clinical symptoms100% cases of canine distemper had anorexia and bi-directional fever, and 67.5% cases had diarrhea, and 75% cases had typical respiratory symptoms, and 13% cases had vomit, and 17.2% cases had severe nervous symptoms, and 6% cases had eye symptoms.91.8% cases of canine parvovirus disease belonged to enteritis type, and the rest belonged to myocarditis type.100% cases of canis coronavirus disease had anorexia and diarrhea, and 45.5% cases had fever, and 53.9% cases had respiratory symptoms.2.2 Treatment by the Chinese traditional medicineThe effects of antiviral therapy, conventional anti-inflammatory drugs and Chinese traditional medicine on the treatment of Canine Distemper Disease,Parvovirus Disease, and Coronavirus Disease were explored in the present study. The results of routine blood tests in Canine Distemper Disease patients showed that WBC, neutrophile granulocytes and lymphocytes were increased, while the results of blood gas tests showed that Pco2 was increased. However, the results of blood biochemical examination were within the normal range. After 7 days of treatment, WBC,GRA and LYM in all groups were decreased but WBC and GRA in group III, IV and V were not reduced to a normal range. Pco2,however,all returned to normal after treatment. In addition, the results of routine blood tests in Canine Parvovirus Disease patients showed that WBC and MID were decreased, blood gas tests showed that BE and Pco2 were decreased. However, the results of blood biochemical examination were within the normal range. After 7days of treatment, all indexes of blood routine tests were changed to be normal. Pco2 and BE were normal after treatment. The resultes of routine blood tests in Canine Coronavirus Disease patients showed that WBC and MID were decreased, and BE and PCO2 were decreased. However, the results of blood biochemical examination were within the normal range. After 7days of treatment, all indexes of blood routine tests were returned to be normal. PC02 and BE were returned to be normal after treatment. It was shown that Chinese traditional medicine was an effective therapy for the three diseases.Cure rate of antiviral therapy, antiviral therapy plus Chinese traditional medicine, antiviral therapy plus conventional anti-inflammatory drugs, Chinese traditional medicine plus conventional anti-inflammatory drugs, and conventional anti-inflammatory drugs was 58.3%,53.3%,45% and 25%,respectively.
