With the rapid development of the society,the continuous emerging of highly modernized cities and the booming of the real estate industry,China has become the largest producer and consumer of construction materials in the world.As a high-end building decoration material,stone materials have been widely used in the construction of both interior and exterior decoration design,curtain wall decoration and public facilities.While the continuous growth in the stone material industry,traditional stone material processing companies are faced with numerous challenges and opportunities.Presently,most of the stone material processing companies at home are fettered with outdated management concepts and production management methods,and thus still are stuck with the small workshops' operation management methods.KC is a relatively new stone material processing company with its main operations of the production and sale of customized stone materials for construction projects.The sales of the company have seen a rapid growth in recent years attendant on the large-scale city construction development.However while its multi-species,small orders are increasing,KC products' on-time delivery rate is on a downward spiral.The cases of failed on-time delivery and unmet customer demands occur from time to time.In the long run,the consequences from failed on-time delivery can be slumping customer satisfaction,failing company credibility,and eventually,the loss of company customers,casting a major negative influence on the good and sustainable development for the company in the future.Hence the circumstances beg the immediate solution of raising on-time delivery rate for the company.Through the analysis of the on-time delivery rate of KC products,the essay points out the factors which have a direct influence on the products on-time delivery rate in 3 aspects,including procurement management,production layout and production planning management.After combing through KC's order production process,it comes forward with an improvement plan regarding the problems above,combining theoretical knowledge in supply chain management,fish-bone analysis and lean production management etc.Targeting at the problems such as redundant suppliers in the procurement links and prolonged procurement periods,it comes up with the construction of electronic informationization of the procurement procedures,when at the same time sets up evaluation standard for the suppliers,and screens out existing suppliers,thus shortening the procurement period,ensuring the quality of the procured raw materials and also reducing the rate of waste of raw materials.it combines lean production theory with reality and rearranges the production layout,while optimizing some processes,strengthening quality control and reducing the reworking rates for defects;It plans out the sequences and execution of the production plan by prioritizing the orders and formulating corresponding production plan and order-inserting plan.The improvement plan,when executed,has produced a relatively distinctive effect in improving the on-time delivery rate of KC company,hence shoring up the core competency of this company.The analysis and study into the on-time delivery rate for companies in this case can provide some reference value for small and medium-sized stone material processing companies that deal with the production of multi-species and small orders.
